I busted the screen on my iPhone 6 a week and change ago. (Took it out of the case to clean the screen and the case film, promptly dropped it on the darned sidewalk.)

 

What's it cost to replace one? I've heard some wild swings.

 

I'm probably going to get a new phone and fix this busted one to pass on to my parents.

Typically around $100 to replace an iphone screen.

Check on Craigslist for Iphone repair people. There's a bunch of people that do them pretty cheap. Especially if you're going to use it as a backup phone, you can get a used screen put on that may have a couple of scratches but no cracks, and still functions perfectly. I've had them replaced anywhere from $20 - $80.

 

If you can't find anyone near you. There's a guy in Lex who runs a little shop called Iphone Repair. (Really original name) He doesn't always answer the phone so sometimes it's better to text him 530-349-0030. He'll typically give you a quote over the phone. If he has one and knows you're coming. It usually takes him 15-20 minutes. He's on South Broadway.

Or, you can do it yourself. You can buy a brand new screen and a nice kit for less than $40.

I got mine replaced a few months ago at a store called Batteries+Bulbs. I believe it was $100 or so but got a $10 off coupon for scheduling an appointment online. Took them about an hour and everything has worked fine since.

 

I could be wrong on this but I've heard if you get it replaced anywhere besides Apple it will affect any warranty on the phone. Not sure if that applies in your case.

Kits on Amazon about 35 bucks. Watch a video on you tube a few times. Takes about 30 minutes. Just be sure you get everything together on 6s.

I wouldn't do it myself unless I was fully prepared to buy a new phone. Have had multiple friends try doing it themselves and it never quite comes out correctly. Just my opinion.

I couldn't agree more with these posts. I keep hearing how easy it is to change your own screen, I know more that have screwed it up than have been successful. That coupled with there being really good deals on Iphone 7's, fixing a 6 just doesn't seem worth it, although if you can get it done cheap enough, you should be able to sell it and still make money.

The phone fixed is worth $225-$375 depending on how many gig of memory it has.

 

Get it fixed. Whether you sell it or save it as a backup is up to you.

 

I do agree most people should not try to repair their own. However, the new ones are not nearly as hard as the older ones. The cost of replacement screens has dropped dramatically. A new screen is $23.00 the guy I know charges $25-$30 to put one in.

My Iphone 6 as of last night can't find a signal, says searching. I have tried several of the quick fixes and nothing. After driving clear up to the apple store will they be able to repair this?

From what I understand, the Apple store only fixes screens and replaces batteries. Anything else gets replaced with a service unit if it's an issue covered under warranty (ie no water damage, abuse, etc). If your phone is out of warranty (which I'm guessing an Iphone 6 is), they'll still replace it with a service unit, but fees will apply.
