New alignment does not take place till 2019. FS should own 2018...after that, I suspect they graduate a lot and 4A becomes a bit more mysterious.

4A has proven to be the toughest class to repeat.

I think Hopkinsville is a sleeping giant that is waking up. They are probably the greatest threat to stop a third straight FS-JC title game.

Third straight title game between JC and FS. JC will get back Joe Jackson who missed all of last season (State Championship MVP previous year) and most of the team was young anyway. Look for the Golden Eagles to be much better this year than last.

With what they return from a championship team, Franklin Simpson is probably the preseason #1. Tre Bass is a stud. They also get back another 1,000 yard rusher and their leading receiver.

 

But, I'm with you on your Golden Eagles. They could be scary good by seasons end, if not right away. With Preece back under center and the return of Joe Jackson (along with Devin Johnson, Dillon Preston, and Cody Rice), JC's backfield will be loaded. Then you add in Seth Dalton, who is the definition of a big play WR (39 yards per catch). Along with what I'm sure will be another huge, imposing OL, the offense should be formidable. Perhaps, even unstoppable.

 

Gotta replace some huge, talented bodies on the DL, though. That's the only real question mark I see right now.

 

Good programs like Wayne County, Collins, Hopkinsville, Ashland and Rockcastle County shouldn't be dismissed, but Round 3 for Franklin Simpson and Johnson Central seems likely.

I watched several of FS games last year and they will have lost some really good players the last two years going into the 2018 season. After doing some research,

FS loses 4 of their top 5 tacklers, all linebackers, cornerback, their top D lineman, a 4 year starter on defense and offense, a 3 year consecutive 1,000 plus rusher on offense and maybe their best blocker out of the backfield and a big O-lineman.

Does FS have the replacements in the stable or will they have to play a lot of guys both ways?

Will JC have to also play several both ways considering their losses on the D-line?

If so, Fatigue will be a factor for both teams. You also run a greater risk of injury playing both ways.

I thinking like @FSfan, I believe Hoptown will be a giant to overcome this year. The way I understand it Logan Co. brings back a lot from last years team too.

I am suspect about a 6-7 Hopkinsville team that lost all their skill players other than their QB on offense and 7-8 starters on defense. Logan returns quite a bit, but will have to show it was more than just catching lightning in a bottle 1 year. Other than Franklin Simpson, I think Madisonville is the most talented team in region 1. But they have to avoid the injuries they sustained last year.

Region 1 will be a tuff road this year.

 

Logan county will return almost everyone. Losing 8 seniors however only one played both ways. They really only played 5 seniors. Can Logan Co keep the high dreams going?

 

Madisonville should be stacked they return almost everyone also. They played a bunch of sophomores last year. Injuries hurt them late last year

 

Hoptown lost a lot of seniors. Many skill positions will have to be replaced. Hoptown will still have players to compete always have.

 

The road will go through F/S can any of these teams knock the king off the throne?

I am really excited about the addition of some new players coming out that haven't played the last couple of seasons since coming up from middle school and our team as a whole. As I stated last year about this time our non-district schedule is pretty tough. Of our non district opponents three were in the semifinals and one in the regional championship last season. We just hope to improve as we go. It will be fun to see the development of some good young guys getting their first start and things like that. Don't forget about Warren East this season. They have a lot back off a pretty good team. There is a ton of talent in District 1. ACS has some tremendous athletes at WR returning. Coach Hood, Coach Griffith and Coach Taylor all do a tremendous job with their teams. I was extremely impressed with the improvement of Hopkinsville throughout last season. Coach Clayton is a class act. Collins was spectacular in the semi finals and Coach Jerry Lucas is a tremendous coach and person. All the coaches in our region are fantastic and do a real good job with their kids imo. I'm just really proud to be a part of football in Southern Kentucky. It is a 'hotbed' of talented players and coaches imo.
