Newport 68 Newport Central Catholic 66 (OT) 36th district championship

That's a lot of research B-Ball or you have one heck of a memory, nice job and thanks.

HaHa...

Thanks, and you're welcome...

....No it's not my memory, but thankfully awhile back someone posted some files and I thought they'd be worthy of hanging onto for these such type discussions.

I'd repost them here if I could just figure out how to.

The above should be a reminder to all who post/talk about officials. You're either blinded by passion for a team or you simply have bad eyes.

Hall, like all stud players, tried to make a play. He tried to go between 3 defenders.No contact. HE (Hall) hits the ball with his OWN knee which causes it to go flying. You will also notice there was no "body check" nor did he even get touched. He ran after the ball and dove for it.

Twitter

Anyone see a body check? Anyone see a foul?

Good no call Hall tried to do to much. Pass the ball

@allsport71

I located the website where I had originally found those district files.

1. Home

This link takes you directly to all of the districts info...

2. Basketball tournament scores, records and lists for districts, regions and state

I have another file stored with 9th Region tourneys from 1932-2011 but there again I can't figure out how to post the file, or remember where exactly I found it.

Perhaps overkill, but I'll just copy/paste that 9th Region file here and whoever wants it can copy it and save it in a file of their own. It would be handy if I could simply post the file, but I don't know how to.

9th region tournaments (underlined team district champ; records are final)

@allsport71

Awesome, thanks, you are the man.

Great game. He was body checked thats all i'm. It was and 1 the possession before where there was no foul. But swallow your whistle when kid gets knocked to the floor. Game over things happen. Newport earned the victory an congrats!

The video does not lie. If you were in the front row and thought THAT was foul, thank God you are not a ref...not even close to a foul....

Well, technically he was right, it was a good no call.

Because there was nothing to call. :D

Was at the game and had zero dog in the fight. I started out leaning towards Newport but NewCath never gave sent it into OT. I thought Newport’s coach needed to be the cool head instead of freaking out on every call and at his players. Once NewCath started their come back the body language of Newport’s players changed quickly which I believe led to the game going into OT. You get 5 fouls so if you get called for one no big deal. I agree on the no call at the end. Player tried to go through 3 defenders and from where I was at (on the NewCath side of the stands) it appeared to go of the NewCath player.

NewCaths lack of rebounding is why they lost. Got absolutely dominated on the boards. Anyone know how many second chance points Newport had?

Awesome game and awesome atmosphere. Newport brought way more than I thought and NewCath had the large following per usual. Everything you’d want in a playoff game.

Newcath was outrebouned by Newport 38 to 29 in the first meeting. A few things contribute to the lack of getting boards. 1. Overall team height is down. 2. Only 1 big that doesn't play 32 minutes. 3. And a "4 out...1 in" base offense that doesn't have extra guys camped in the paint for said rebounds.

Not seeing the game or stats, my guess is Taj Harding had a couple of boards.
