Now Chavez will come up and get the big hit....

Jinx...

Hardly he just got robbed of 2 run HR. He is probably a little distracted by that. COME ON METS!!!!!!!!!

That was exactly my point. Choke city. 2 errors in two games.

Not too impressed with Bradford's stuff tonight, hoping to get through this inning unscathed. Let's go Mets!!!

I hope the Cards can finish them off.

I despise the Mets! :irked:

Sad to hear that Birdsfan... I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one. At least we both love the Birds!!!

I suppose that's right. ;)

I've disliked them all the way back to the fight with the Reds at third base. That was many years ago!

I have a great story about that. I was at that game. Was very young and wearing my Mets jersey. There was only one other Mets fan in the Red reserve seats near us was a couple of rows behind us. The game went extra innings and several drunk Reds fans tried to start a fight with this guy. To his credit he kept his cool and security removed about 5 of the drunk idiots(leaving about a dozen or so still there), but I remember my Mom freaking out that they were going to start something with me. I was like 12. How that whole thing happened was a joke. Eric slid in to third and popped up quickly and bumped Ray. Ray shoved him back off, Davis shoved Ray, and Ray popped him in the face. Pretty silly. What was the most memorable about the game, is pregame. Strawberry hit a home run in batting practice and Jesse Orosco for some reason was out shagging balls and threw one up to me as I was hanging over the edge of the RF green seats. Little did he know, later that night he would be playing RF and alternating innings on the mound with Roger McDowell. In the end, it was a great win for the Mets. :jump:

20 years ago to be exact. I'm still rooting for the Mets. I can't stand Tony LaRussa.

You sure about the dead ball part?

From OBR:

5.09

The ball becomes dead and runners advance one base, or return to their bases, without liability to be put out, when --

(a) A pitched ball touches a batter, or his clothing, while in his legal batting position; runners, if forced, advance;

My experience in reading the rulebook is that if there is a caveat/exception, its noted. Since its not noted, I , too, would say dead ball.

It's not dead when it hits the ground. A ball can be hit when it hits the ground first. However you are correct, when it hits the batter it is dead.

Sad to hear that Birdsfan... I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.
If it helps any, I want Detroit to win the World Series.

Not to threadjack but as long as the Birds win AAA this season I will not protest a Detroit WS win.

Bad break for Wright, that second strike was outside...
