I know I hope Lucas comes here, especially if he bring Patterson and others here too...But honestly I am surprised he has shown that much interest here. We already have a surplus of guards. We have Bradley, and Crawford who would be here two more years, then behind them we have Jasper and Meeks, and everyone keeps forgetting about Porter who I think is going to end up being a steal for UK out of this class. So with all these guards Lucas could be hard pressed to find playing time early on in his career, and Im sure he would want to play alot. That is why I am really surprised we are one of the top schools on his list, but I am worried about it though because honestly if I was him I probably wouldn't like the situation in front of me that much...I hope I am wrong though, because I would love to have him, and the people like Patterson who he could bring with him....

Now when I heard this I didnt see it as a big deal because I imagined the competition he was playing not being that great. But then I heard that there were 7 other D-1 prospects playing in that game. Not sure if thats true or not. But I am excited about him. I think he could be a steal for us.

 

Now the next couple days are big because he supposed to get his ACT or SAT score back this week and if he passes he is visiting UK this weekend. Also, at this point he has no other visits planned at all and hes basically a UK fan.

Also no official word yet if James Anderson will be here this weekend or not. His high school coach is not wanting him to come and pushing him towards other schools for some reason. Jai and his father tho have been in contact with Anderson and his mother to try and convince him to visit UK though.

Next up for Moses (6-foot-7, 230) is an official to visit to Kentucky -- at least, that's what he hopes. He is tentatively scheduled to be in Lexington this weekend, but a prospect cannot take an official visit until he has received his ACT or SAT score...

 

Moses toyed with the idea of staying in prep school an extra year and joining the 2008 class, but he is focusing his energy on being eligible for 2007. He feels good about his current academic standing, but if his grades do not work out as planned, the fifth-year prep route is still a possibility.

That seems to be trend these days. You either have to hire someone's AAU coach or Dad to get an "in" with the prospective athlete.

Im about positive Anderson wont be coming to UK... he seems real high on Kansas and OSU and I dont think UK has a chance.

While most UK fans have been focused intently on the recruitment of Patrick Patterson and Jai Lucas as the early signing period approaches, some are wondering if Gant is still on the Wildcats' radar.

 

"No, I don't think so," Gant said Wednesday night. "I haven't heard anything from them since my visit. I think they got another player at my position and ran out of room. I'm not really sure.

 

"It's too bad, though. I liked them."

 

The "other player" in question may have been Florida standout A.J. Stewart, who gave the Cats a verbal commitment after making his official visit during "Big Blue Madness." Gant and Stewart are both potential combo forwards with similar styles.

Im truely suprised anyone even thought Kentucky was on Anderson's radar in the first place. UK was never above moderate consideration on his list, while as Kansas, OSU, and OU were all highly regarded. So I don't see this as a hit to the class of 07, being that he never should have been talked about as being one of our hopeful's to begin with, he was never even close.

 

As for Patterson. Much of the Duke and Florida faithful still hold their high hopes as does Kentucky fans. Things seem to be going in the right direction, but to be completely honest it is still a big unknown, with Kentucky only having a slight lean (that just being because his parents are fond of UK). With that said, I think that Patterson is very high on all three, thus taking so long to making his decision. Kentucky seems to be the front runner by a nose, but anything could happen. Would be a huge win for our 07' class, but obviously some of us are counting our chickens before they hatch. In otherwords we still need to be holding our breath on Patterson.

 

Lucas is a different story however. Sources indicate that without question he will commit, when is the only quetsion left to be answered. Jai even wanted to end his visit period the week after his Kentucky visit, but those close to him are making him follow up on his obligations. Everything seems to be dead to rights on Jai, he just has to pull the trigger, and the best thing to come of this is not just a solid point guard, but the fact he may leverage Patterson's decision as well.

 

 

Moses, like said is quite possibly the sleeper pick of the whole recruiting class. Most rankings are made based on last year's performance, and performance in summer camps. However, this does not give way room to commend progress made since then, and lets not forget these guys still have their full senior seasons left to be played. Basically all I am saying is that Marshall is certainly better advertised than he has been marketed, and he is only getting better. The bad news about that is, that as the season goes on other teams will start to get hot on him as well, and if other programs have the room I'm sure they wouldn't care to pull the trigger, especially if he holds out untill the spring period. There is still lots of questions to be answered on his as far as whether or not he is as big on UK as publicized, or if its just UK's hopeful ambitions that keep his name popping up. I would like to see us land him, and feel we are in as good of standing as anybody, it just scares me because we landed Stewart, and the two are fairly similar types of players, so I don't know how this effects Tubby or Marshall. None the less, I know we are in good standing, but Tubby needs to get a lot hotter on him than he is now and wrap him uo before he gets a way. Like said, he is a big time sleeper prospect who is only getting better.

 

If all of this should come to pass, then by the end of the period Kentucky will unquestionably have a top 10 class.
