Mason County is not only the best in the district but probably the region with good matchup with GRC! Mason will always , and I mean always be best in this district. Does A-town even play Mason County, I know the other two in the past have but where is Atown, playing KSD?

 

As far as district all lost big time players

Atown- Gallagher- will be hard to replace- Didnt Bracken Handle them in the summer easily???

St Pat- Lost Estill- hard to lose your Point and be good right off!!!

Bracken Co- 3 seniors? and the most important one of them all- thier COACH!

 

Great race for 2nd and the draw will decide who gets to the region much like it did last year. Good luck to all, but no one beats Mason as they draw into the region semis every year practically going in as a winner.

 

Yea ur rite southern gentleman mason is the best team in the district and even the best in the region. and no mason and augusta have not played in some year except in district play, but thats only cuz both school never have open dates that match up because of contracts they have with other schools. And no they do not play KSD they may not play mason but they play teams such as: Fleming Co. Montgomery Co. Pendleton Co. Harrison Co. and Newport all teams that have been ranked right with mason.

 

As far as missing players

(A-Town) Gallagher- yea a good defense player and good shooter but they one player doesnt make a defense work and Kelsch loves shooters so he can replace them pretty good

(St. Pat) Estill- lost a good point gaurd but most of all they lost the heart of the team but hopfully Owens has takin that job over

(Bracken Co.) Randolph, Linville, Fields and Coach Hammonds- Hard to loose 3 good players and be right back in it exspecially lossing your coach too but what im hearin Fite is doin a good job replacing him but i also heard that bracken has just recently lost 6'5 highlander switchin back to his old school and point gaurd jesse hall due to conflict with the coach. Not sure if its true but that just what iv heard

These "key losses" everyone has brought up for Augusta and St. Patrick do not mean much to me. The biggest loss in the 39th is Micah Turner. Gallagher's defense will be missed but that means more playing time for an improved Mofford and Hamilton. Also, Staggs is back for the Panthers. Owens is a true point guard and is a leader. Afterall, his last name is OWENS and he is a PATTIE. I don't know what to expect from the Polar Bears with a new coach. I do know Coach Fite a little and I know his style of play is up-tempo which would be a drastic change for Bracken County. One thing that will not change though is the defensive intensity. Fite was a great a defender and I'm sure he will stress team defense which Bracken has never lacked.

Your correct Micah will be a big loss,But i think the Royals will actually be better by seasons end if that make sense.The reason i say this because people must not forget last years team was so very young overall and they got a lot of good playing time and i think the maturity they gained will show this year.

Ethan King and Trevor Setty will shine this year mhighfield. They both have grown at least 3 inches since last season. Now, they need some beef. Their length though is something I look for O'Hearn to utilize in their full court pressure which has been referred to as "the Blue Swarm".

Your right on the growth,But you wasn't supposed to tell anybody a Mason secret:D .If they both continue to progress there shooting with there size should be fun.

Mason County- untill someone beats them in our region they are not only number 1 in the district but the region.

But as the other three would go i will have to go with

2. St Pat-They return 4 starters from last yr team with owens, anderson, englert, yeary but return 6 man newton they also have some other talent on the bench such as cunningham, klee, conway and mason as for the deepest bench i would say were up there.

3.Augusta-The lost Gallagher and hargett but the have white and hardymon, groves and skaggs should have a good season

4.Bracken- they lost 3 seniors and their coach will have to get used to his style before they play up to their potential

Owens yea great player good shooter he could turn some heads in the region, but he needs a team behind him to do so.

Owens is already a great player who has turned some heads in the region and could play for any team in the region.

 

Unfortunately, if he is the "lone ranger" and draws double teams and gimmick defenses for 32 minutes each night his true star may never shine.

 

Good players find ways to get the job done, Owens will still get his 20-25 a night, but the Saints 06-07 overall team success will depend greatly on the capabilities of his supporting cast.

1. Mason County - Some will say they only lose Micah Turner but IMO they lose their heart and soul, they'll still be #1 in this district but the gap closes just a little bit. And no, I have not forgotten about Darius Miller, he's a very talented player. But a new leader will have to emerge. Miller, Middleton or Scott is going to have to lead this group. Even still a trip back to Rupp is not unlikely.

 

2. Augusta - Of the 3 remaining teams the Panthers have the most upside They lose 2 starters in Levi Gallagher and Joe Hargett but gain one back in Dustin Staggs (lost last year to torn ACL). And the emergence of sophomores Chris Mofford and Ty Krebs could be key. Starting seniors Jeremy Hardymon, Josh White and Matt Groves have one more shot at a winning season for the Panthers. The Panthers have a deep bench this year and coach Kelsch won't be afraid to use it.

 

3. St. Patrick - The Saints return Chris Owens and Nick Anderson but lose point guard Patrick Estill. Someone has to take over that position for them to have any success. If it's Owens or Anderson it could take away from their scoring and that could hurt the Saints in the long run. Don't underestimate the loss of Estill. He often sacrificed scoring to lead that team, they miss him already.

 

4. Bracken County - The Polar Bears lose the only shooters (Joel Linville, Brian Randolph) on a team that couldn't shoot. Jesse Hall returns at the point and he'll have Eli Cooper and Tyler Hamilton inside but it's going to take more than that. Looks like another long season in Brooksville. Heard recently that Hall and Tarter are not currently on the team. If this is so things get tougher for coach Fite. Best of luck to him.

The one that is overlooked for Augusta is Brayde Hamilton. Good player on both ends of floor. Outside shot of Ty Krebs hitting nicly all summer. Told by former Coach that its one of the best shots he has seen. A
