The Knights make the long haul from the city of Lexington to the hills of Campton to battle the Wolves on Monday Nov. 27th. Lexington Catholic didn't have a problem with the Wolves last season as the Knights rolled to a 87-58 win. LexCath returns one of it's leading scorers from last season in Zan Payne. Wolfe County returns nearly everyone they had from last season.

 

Can the Wolves pull a Buckhorn from several year's back and defeat a team from Lexington or will Catholic repeat it's victory from last season?

Think this could be a very interesting game. Is it a scrimmage?

Expectations are pretty high for Wolfe County this season. I don't know if they can't beat Lexington Catholic but it will be interesting to see where they stack up.

LexCath will win but not by a big margin. Wolfe is going to have a pretty good team this year with most of their players back from last year.

Wolfe county is a lot better than most think. I expect Wolfe to keep this game within reach for most of it.

Wolfe usually fields a smallish team of pretty fair athletes. They can

shoot, but rely more on streak shooting than working for high

% shots. Their fundamental passing, rebounding and defensive

skills are rarely polished. However, when they get into a jam,

they have the ability to turn their effort into a maniacal, kamikazee

attack which stuns many teams. The flip side of the attack

is that all that adrenaline quickly locks their muscles---much

like an over adrenalized fighter. So, the game becomes punctuated

with frequent surge and burnout. If Wolfe is true to form,

they will have many desperate and glorious surges while still

losing ground.

 

Wolfe's strategy (habit?) frequently works against teams with

athletes and skill sets similar to theirs (Wolfe's).

 

Now let's just say Catholic is having a down year fundamentally

and athletically; they still will have an advantage in depth. But

more importantly, Catholic practices with controlled pressure

applied at an even pace. There is no way Wolfe can practice

with their all out kamikazee pressure and not incur injuries.

So, Catholic will eventually get into Wolfe's legs, and it

might not be pretty.

 

I enjoy Wolfe. I plan to go. I hope I'm wrong. I hope

I'm eating crow here after the game. Enjoy the holiday
