That being said, it amazes me that 3 of the 4 schools don't have turf at this point, especially Cooper, since it was built so recently. Turf for schools with large athletic departments is simply a no brainer, and provides such a benefit to not only football but many other sports, and the community.

 

The Boone County Board of Education should never amaze anyone when it comes to sports programs/facilities/etc, sports are a low priority in Boone County.

And Shaun offered to pay half for the turf. They were asking the school board to pay the other half. Ryle's field was paid for 100% from a private donation.

 

I had heard that he only offered copies of his book, that the school could sell with proceeds going towards the field. There was never any money offered directly, but I'm not 100% on these accounts.

Private fundraising for a tax payer funded facility. Makes sense. Makes you wonder where the money is really going.

That makes good sense. Ultimately it is a savings to taxpayers as maintenance and upkeep are no longer much of a concern. The advantage to the school (PE, tryouts/practice for baseball, soccer....safety for the players and officials) is priceless.
