Here's a newsflash....Mercer is playing where they are assigned to play. Period. You don't like it......they don't care.

So your saying they didnt have an option of playing up knowing how big they were?

How big they are is just over 900 enrollment. This puts us squarely in current 3A enrollment numbers. Of course some on here would have you believe they are now an X or T size school playing for a middle school title.

Think of the scheduling fallout for Mercers current district teams as well as whatever new district they would be assigned to. Quite a few teams being dropped from schedules and just as many scrambling for replacement games.

The debate is really not about whether or not Mercer has an advantage..(they do) rather it is about some folks desire to have Mercer be apologetic for it (they won't). They will also be fans; excited, proud, etc....

There are fans of several schools (Russell, Belfry, Western....) and others who understand that this is the way it is going to be this year and correctly think that they have a very good shot at winning a matchup with Mercer Co. IMHO this is the way winners deal with controversy.

Mercer has no better shot at winning a title this year than a handful of teams that I have mentioned, because they are not better than Russell, Western, Belfry, and a few others.

If I misenterpreted then I apologize. I'm just not real big on seeing kids that have worked their tails off get degraded by teams that have had the luxury of playing against team that was fortunate enough to add a whole school to their team and stay in the same class.

I've never said you didn't have the right to be excited for your team. I'm happy for the folks in Mercer County. I do think you have gone a little overboard with the success you aren't used too. There's something to be said about winning with humility. That's OK though. We are going to find out how real you are next year when you play in the class they are supposed to be in. Not hating, just the facts! "You don't like it I don't care." Stick Highlands, Lex Cath, Cov Cath in 2A and let me know how they match up.

I'm finished with this thread. Congrats to the humble fans in Mercer Co. I know it's exciting times there. Keep your heads up and keep working hard North. Your work ethic will build the foundation there.

The QB is Dillon Grandon I think. He throws a very nice ball. Unfortunatly he's been beaten to death since his Freshman year. I hope he has a great Senior year and gets some college looks. He is one kid that has really flown under the radar do to all the turmoil North has had in the past. I think that is all behind them and they have a good stable coach in Coach Martin. Dillon is a nice player and a nice catcher in baseball.

The score last year before the merger was 50- 7 , so let's see 68-7 this year. The extra 200 students from Harrodsburg helped the offense out a little less than 1 pt. per student. The extra 200 had no effect on the defense.:ylsuper:

I wish all the big schools would quit picken on North Oldham!

The starters where out of the game with 11 min to go in the 3rd

I agree, Mercer is playing the hand they were dealt and there's nothing that can be done about that.

One day after school, a sophomore beats up a 4th grader, goes to school the next day and braggs about his big achievement.:fight:

When St. X or Trinity beat a fellow 4-A school that has around 1/3 the male enrollment...they do not cry this much. I didn't see the gloating or read the gloating. I didn't notice you post anything about Male's 80-0 win over IHS. Was it gloating when that game was detailed? Follow your precious northern ky ball and stay away from South-Central!:thumb:

Every week so far a Mercer fan posts a thread about the game. Every week the same gripe comes up. It's a broken record. Mercer just can't play in AA cause they wanted an easier path to success. The KHSAA decides where they play. Nobody is gloating about beating North Oldham. I knew they were 0-6 before the game. It was stated that Mercer scored 68 pts on 30 plays. Joe Dirt was just stating a stat for the fans who couldn't make it last night. There were no smiley faces or any disrespecting the North Oldham team. I wish we were playing in AAA this year. I would rather compete each week and not have to see all the bashing on here. But, the Titans have to play the hand they are dealt. March on Titans!

The merge began on July 1st. How were they going to field a schedule in a month?

How did Harrodsburg's opponents manage it?

Really Mercer had no choice, playing up is not an option under the current alignment rules, so they couldn't have if they wanted to.

Harrodsburg's opponents had to figure out how to replace one game each. If Mercer played in 3A this year then they would have had to find 10 games within a month. Not possible.

I know of a couple tiny schools who may stand in Mercer's way....:D

I do too:sssh: .

Like I said if I misinterpreted the first post then I apologize end of story. I was defending kids I care about just like you guys are defending kids you care about. Nothing more nothing less.

It's easier to drop games (H-burg opponents) than pick up games. However, Western was scheduled for the Fort Harrod Bowl v N. Laurel, and Mercer added Boyle to the schedule, it help them fill a open date. The rest of H-burgs games were up to their opponents to fill.

After many years of butt whippings, I for one, am enjoying this year.

:thumb: agreed!!... I know there are Mercer fans who have been there for the past 10 years... some of those years flat out getting their teeth kicked in, but now payday is here! Enjoy it Titan fans!... cause like someone said earlier, Mercer moves up with the 'big boys' next year and things will be a bit different. The Titans will still be very competitive... it'll just be a different scenario!

Question for all the Mercer haters. Should we go through all the classifications and any school that is say at the top of a particular class make them play up? Or if a class drops enrollment which allows it to drop down a class do you allow that? If so what is the level that you make the cut off? If someone goes has a 2% increase in enrollment do we make them play up? What about a 6% increase?

How about a team loses 10% enrollment do we let them drop down?

Come on guys get real. This crap is just sour grapes.
