October 16, 20179 yr So got back from vacation on Saturday and had a bill in the mail from River Link for $8 of tolls from one of the Louisville Bridges. Said they got me coming and going in my truck. Had my lic plate number and a poor quality pic of my vehicle. The lic plate number on the invoice was in fact mine. I have a sportsman plate with a 4 digit number and 2 letters stacked at the end. The problem is I've never driven my truck to Louisville. I logged into the riverlink website to view the pics in better quality. It wasn't my truck (I have a Tundra and this was a Chevy 1500) but definitely appears to my lics plate number except it is a specialty veterans plate. The two stacked letters are FG. What you can't tell in the pick is if the G is actually a G or a 6. Does anyone know if the specialty plates that used this number format (4 digits and 2 stacked letters) use numbers in the stacked two characters? Like the below pick?
October 16, 20179 yr black tape works wonders, do you have any numbers that could have been doctored up as well?

I have seen so many combinations over the years I have no idea. I am interested in hearing about the appeal process because I am sure they get the it wasn't me defense all day every day.
October 16, 20179 yr Author black tape works wonders, do you have any numbers that could have been doctored up as well? Not easily but possible. I saved pics off their site and tried blowing one up the G actually could be an E. The red waves on the right side of the veterans plate run through part of the bottom letter. It's either a C or and E. It's a bad pic and I don't have a program to blow it up cleanly.

I emailed them the form along with pics of my truck from the back/side and directly from the back. Again, the lic plates aren't the same style and the trucks definitely aren't. You can at least see that much in the pics.
October 16, 20179 yr Duplicate plates are a huge issue in KY. My license plate (has been the same since I bought my care in 2004) is also the same plate # for a 1990 Chevy S-10 and a 2012 Honda civic.

When you work for the Government you find all kinds of areas that are a disaster.
October 16, 20179 yr I would assume there's a record of you having a sportsman's plate, isn't there? And if so, the fact that it appears this other one is readily visible as a Veteran's plate should weigh heavily in your favor, despite what the actual license plate numbers may actually be. People could easily take plates off of one vehicle and put them on another, so that doesn't necessarily get you off the hook. But a completely different design/style of plate would be hard for them to argue.

October 16, 20179 yr Also, I don't know how the law is written but the burden of proof should be on the "them" to prove it was you, not for you to prove it wasn't you.
October 16, 20179 yr Be careful there you could get into big trouble if you do anything to obscure or hide your plate. I wouldn't take the chance but lot's of crazies out there that would probably do that for $8.00
