Trinity 28 St. Xavier 0

Shamrock69 wants to know what's wrong with things the way they are. Excitement level is down, the crowds at the games are shrinking, and the schools are not making the money they used to. In the 90's up until Trinity started dominating the series, the crowds were always between 30,000, and 38,000. Last night the crowd was 20,000.

I love it. I hope X never beats us again. We play a national schedule now. I don't want them to win so the crowd is bigger.

We won't win until we change our scheme and start executing better. With the talent Trinity now has that's what we have to do. Things have changed and we haven't changed with it. Would love a Georgia Tech scheme.

So should X improve or Trinity regress?

My head tells me that the rivalry was better when it was more competitive. My head tells me it was good for both schools when X held their own. My head tells me that all of the things that make the rivalry special are placed in jeopardy if the games aren't good. But, Lord forgive me, but I don't ever want to lose to those people. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Trinity alum, I feel the exact same way as you. Heart vs head

The offensive scheme St. X runs does not fit the players it consistently is able to get. The 100% shotgun, 100% no TE's, and 100% no huddle simply is not smart. Also, they never have their offensive linemen in a 3 point stance. Trinity, however, does all of the above at times. While Trinity spreads it out and slings the ball around quite well, they also have the capacity to get under center and run downhill when they need/want to.

St. X needs to realize that they need to be who they are. Stanford would be a good example to follow. Multiple TE's, multiple formations, multiple tempos. Power run game from under center. Play-action passing. And spread it out occasionally.

100% agree, we have the kids to be successful.

Is it possible that Wolford is trying so hard not to be Glaser that he is shooting himself in the foot?

I just watched the film from last night and I think it is more than just offensive and defensive scheme. THS plays with an edge on every play. Not sure that we have that all the time or from everyone. Dingle consistently will fly into the pile and try to lay out the runner. On kickoffs #55 was a complete psycho blowing up the wedge. Many more examples of other kids. That is the edge you need in football in my opinion.

I still don't know if they could run a Mike Glaser offense against this Trinity D and be successful. They seem to only run the same 8-10 plays all game. I thought the reason Glaser 'retired' was because the X faithful were tired of his style of offense. I do agree that they do not have the personal to run the offense they are running now.

Definitely!!

I think Trinity runs the same plays, but they do it out of 30 formations, with motion, tempo, etc. that give them different looks.

I know those X teams from 2000-2012 played with an edge. Is it a team culture thing, coach intensity? Just curious.

While I love the way things have gone lately, this rivalry is at its best when this game is too close to call.

You think with this win Trinity may move up to 4th or even 3rd in the LIT ratings?
Bohn has 17 touchdown passes in 2017. He is 162 of 208 with two interceptions. The passing yardage stands at 1,966 for the 7 games-an average of 281 yards per game.
