Whats everyones opinions on this poll? The only thing that I question is how that Covington Catholic is #1 in Class 3A after being beaten by Bishop Watterson rather impressively. I would have thought that the Top 3 would look like #1 Highlands, #2 Bowling Green, #3 Covington Catholic.

Out-of-state games don't count in either Litkenhous and Cantrall.

Belfry #6, Russell #7, in 2A and behind Breathitt, Middlesboro, and Larue County..... IMO these are the top two teams in the class this year along with Mercer County and there is a huge dropoff to the second tier which is headed up by Western.

Ashland Blazer also is alot better than the #20 team in AAA.

Cov. Cath. at the top of 3A just doesn't make any sense to me. Atleast put Bowling Green up there. I can kind of see why Highlands isn't up there with a 3-3 record. But I just don't see very much rhyme or reason to that.

You're right. The 3A doesn't make sense at all.

Hmmm....... I`ve got a headache:creepy:

I have never liked this poll. Not at all.

coaches poll and AP poll are the best in my opinion

I figured Male would move up after thrashing PRP, but they really jumped. What's the highest Litrating you've ever seen for a football team? I don't remember ever seeing a team much above the low 130's. Not saying there's any significance to it.

Maybe, but that loss to Raceland is a killer to their Litrating.

True..and proof in point why I am a strong supporter of the Massey Ratings which takes such games as "least likely results" into the equation.

Speaking of which, have the Massey Ratings been updated recently?

I don't think the Massey Ratings count the "least likely results" any less than the rest of them ... that's just a unique feature to the site. I suspect that every game counts the same.

Bottom line ... not many 3A contenders have lost a game to a team of Raceland's level.

Good question. I have spent more time than I care to think about looking up old Lit ratings on microfilm at the main public library in Louisville, but it is a tedious and time consuming task. Does anyone know if there exists a computer searchable database on the Lit ratings going back beyond 1988? (The Courier digitized in 1988, so that much is on CD and searchable at the main public library in Louisville).

Why does it not make sense CovCath is at the top of 3A?

CovCath is 4 - 0 against instate competition. Highlands is 3 - 1. The Ohio losses don't factor into the Lit Ratings.

Personally, I think CCH should be rated above HHS. Who has Highlands beat? Dixie(so did CCH), Conner(CCH beat a better team in Boone) and Southwestern(CCH beat the local 1A powers instead).

The question of which team is better will hopefully be answered on Oct 27th.

Orison-

This rating system is not accurate it never is.... You Russell team or Belfry will be in the championship game against Mercer County or by some miracle a Region 1 team. Catholic last year wasn't even in the top 10 in AA in Lit ratings and they made it two years in a row. Don't go by this thank God the game is settled on the field.
