Diving for the ball is a penalty if that's what he was told. You can no longer try to slap it out of the centers hand, it is a penalty to do so. Rule changed after that fiasco that happened somewhere a few seasons ago where the NG kept swiping and swiping until he got it timed right and his team recovered the ball.

Had bleeding in his knee and maybe a sprain...I don't think there was a tear but I'm not 100% sure of that either.

Based on the information I was given, I can say it’s highly unlikely he was or will be disciplined. He was told to “dive at the ball” and try to strip it from the QB... As ridiculous as that sounds.

That would be a sad situation if A) he was instructed to do anything like that

 

B) the coaches did not see that this was dangerous and unnecessary and disciplined the excessive action
