That ship sailed when they added onto the school and the old Amin didn’t fully comprehend the value of sports and how it could possibly enhance enrollment.

1) SHDH sits about 200 yards inside the Boone County Line.

2) If NewCath was to build a facility where would you put it. there is no place to build the "Stables" as we would call it. Not able to put it in the NPT. there is no room for in the city.

 

Trust me when I say there is plenty of room on the "hill".

 

As a NewCath alum and ex-bench warmer this has me as jealous as one can get. How many years has brossart had a football team? And now they’re already building a sports complex. The leadership before and while I was in school had the (in my opinion) well deserved reputation of being dinosaurs, refusing to adjust with the times. While driving on the bus through Newport for the Bell game was fun having the locals yell at you, it would be so awesome to have your own place. Hope it turns out as nice as the drawings look

 

They sold it a long time ago when Mt St. Martins closed down.

FYI, the plans I saw for NCC a few years ago had room for a Football field up on the hill.

We tend to do things in phases by priority.

 

Presently that priority is to build and complete the MAC.

 

I suspect that the next phase will be to bulldoze the present "firehouse" and build a street level gymnasium down there that can be accessed from above at present school level. Sort of a Thomas More or Paris H.S. type arrangement.

 

The former administration was hell bent on building a state-of-the-art theatre, which we did and which has become the centerpiece of our facility. We old-timers would have preferred to have built a gym as described above and converted the present gym to the new theater.

 

We have Open House every Saturday morning. It is called the Grade School Basketball league, where prospective students and their parents visit our facility. I would think that a gym, large enough to host district class tournaments, that was modern, bright and outgoing, would have been the way to go. I'm sure it will happen, but it might be awhile before it comes to fruition.

Agree with you @Mustang the only place in most schools to hold a large crowd for assemblies is the school gym, I think it is imperative it needs to be up to date.
