September 12, 20179 yr It's hard to loot in 10 feet of water. I was thinking more along the lines of there are a lot more gun owners in Texas. Criminals or not, most people don't want shot.
September 12, 20179 yr There were reports last night of people posing as Duke Energy and TECO repair personnel. They would come to the door of a residence without power and when the home owner would open the door, they would rob them at gun point. That goes right along with my Texas analogy. Regardless it's sad to hear that such a thing is happening. Hopefully as many as possible are caught and prosecuted.
September 12, 20179 yr Real Estate Appraisers are going to make a killing after this mess. Any homes that were in the process of being purchased will need to have a re-inspection done. So Appraisers who normally make $450 per appraisal will tack on another $150-$200 to re-inspect the homes that were damaged.
September 12, 20179 yr Could a Mod please change the thread title from "Looters" to " Undocumented Shoppers"?
September 12, 20179 yr People stealing shoes didnt look like they needed shoes. A whole group of them just taking whatever.
September 12, 20179 yr Watching more videos of looters, one thing is for sure...everybody is getting new kicks for Christmas! :lol2: Not looting groceries or clothing stores, but man if there is a place selling Jordans or Nike they are all over it. Sure hope they can recover that lost profit...
September 12, 20179 yr Author Sure hope they can recover that lost profit... Nike and Jordan made thier money when the shoes were delivered to the store...it's the stores that are out in situations like this. Even though insurance will replace all damaged merchandise that can be proven, it may not replace missing shoes.
September 13, 20179 yr People stealing shoes didnt look like they needed shoes. A whole group of them just taking whatever. They were just rescuing the shoes from flooding. Good Samaritans I am sure.

September 13, 20179 yr Author You'll have to forgive me for not being able to sympathize with a $3.5B corporation. It's local stores that are out from looting more than anyone else. You'll have to forgive me if I don't sympathize with thieves.
September 13, 20179 yr It's local stores that are out from looting more than anyone else. You'll have to forgive me if I don't sympathize with thieves. You're right. There is no excuse for stealing. There is no excuse for skimming right past the OP and finding something to react to. I still can not sympathize with Foot Locker.

September 13, 20179 yr So in other words, theft is ok as long as the person you are stealing from has money.
September 13, 20179 yr You'll have to forgive me for not being able to sympathize with a $3.5B corporation. So a family run mom/pop store that sells hardware stuff gets looted and a bunch of lawnmowers is stole, its ok because John Deer has money already? Thats about stupid. If it was some woman who needed stuff for kids to survive then I can understand. but it was a bunch of people wearing shoes just stealing and looting like it was a buffet at Golden Corral.
September 13, 20179 yr Skimming past? I didn't skim past the opening post, I made the opening post! :lol2: No, I did. It was a half-hearted admission that I may have been off base. In my defense, you said it was Foot Locker in the second post. So in other words, theft is ok as long as the person you are stealing from has money. It certainly wouldn't do much good to steal from a homeless person. Maybe they were stealing the shoes to sell so they could afford to buy stuff for their kids.
