Russell vs. Lewis County predictions

Featured Replies

Would like to see more Jr & Soph play before the Frosh players.

Not sure what you have been watching. The last two games, the Jr's and Soph's have played almost three quarters of football. The frosh have barely gotten in. Last week alone, the frosh only ran less than a minute of football.

Does anyone have an update on Jacob Sizemore and how he is doing?

The frosh have a game every week which you will not see being played by any one other than frosh. The jv have there games as well but there are some who's only playing time come in the varsity games on friday nights and when they do get to play they should not have to share playing time with frosh.

I can guarantee you that every senior gets in well before any frosh.

Have not heard any news of Jacob, but I did hear that Nick Lewis is going to miss the remainder of the regular season, but has a possibility of being back by the 1st or 2nd week of playoffs.

Be interested to see what changes are made on defense/offense to replace these 2 guys

Another big loss for Russell.

You don't have to worry yourself about that. Coach McGloan will not let that occur. The only way clark will see over 300 yards rushing is if the final score is something like Russell 48 plus to the other team 28 plus. Maybe in the playoffs. Belfry and Mercer come to mind. We will see.

I am thinking I misinterpreted this...but I don't see any back gaining 300+ yards in the playoffs against Belfry, let alone Russell scoring 48 points.

On a side note I really hope that Russell's schedule doesn't do to them what Belfry's did last year. The Pirates virtually went untested aside from Ironton, OH and come playoffs I felt it really became a hinderence after cakewalking through the playoffs until they played Russell. The end result was the uncharacteristic first half Belfry had (alot had to do with Russell being an excellent team). Do you guys see this easy district as posing trouble for the Devils down the road?

Russell has a JOKE for a schedule!

Maybe their district is weak but they do "play-up" during non-district and their playoff schedule won't be an easy task.

Get your lead early and let the young kids play. Russell doesnt need to leave Casey in to set a record. If its a blow out, and it will be,why let him stay in and get a bunch of TD's . Don't be like the WV coach. He let his stud RB stay in and get over 6oo yards rushing.

I wouldn't worry about that happening, Coach McGlone has too much class, tons and tons more than that other guy. I'm not even going to mention the WV coaches name, he doesn't deserve to be mention in the same sentence as Coach McGlone.

I think that's a similar problem that alot of AA teams face. I know Russell wont be in any worse situation then Mercer as far as district competition. Most have said that we won the district title unofficially last friday. That's not good. Russell seemed to do fine last year.

Last year Russell had an at least semi-competitive Fleming County and a decent Morgan County...they also played a decent Mercer County..and a very solid Newport in the playoffs...this year their district is completely barren and with the new playoff structure they will play those same teams in the first two rounds.

Bottom line is Russell will go without any true test from the Ashland game until Round 3 of the playoffs this year. That has to be cause for concern.

Russell rolls again.

Yeah, it doesn't look good for Jacob's return. He may be back if Russell makes it to the regional final but even that is very unlikely. First he was out with a blood clot and then he tore a muscle in practice the next week and had to have surgery to repair it. The DR. said it would be difficult to give a return time because each injury like this is different but usually took a long while to heal. This is his senior year and he would do anything to play. He's been very upset that this has happened so please keep him in your prayers and maybe the good Lord will help him with a speedy recovery.

It's just a very small concern because this team has 27 seniors and they all remember last year and what it took to get there.

It's hard to argue with that. I don't know too many teams with that many seniors. That's scary.

HAHA 27 Seniors certainly help alot! :D

Still,, even though Belfry wasn't Senior laden last year, they were the two time defending champs and still came out completely flat once they finally found a team just as good if not better than them....

I certainly hope Russell's injured players can recover and that noone else gets hurt as well.... sure am looking forward to the Devils packing the new facility at Belfry around Thanksgiving!
