Mets @ Reds (8/29 - 8/31)

Votto's slash line the last 4 nights.... .091/.500/.091 :lol2: How is that even possible?

I think he has reverted to looking more for walks instead of being agressive and swinging. Against Pirates, bases loaded, Votto had a 2-0 count and got a hanging curve ball and he took it. He should have been swinging from his heels.

You're really questioning the approach of the (arguably) best pure hitter in Reds history?

Just my opinion. I want him to be the best hitter not the best walker.

Get more pitching.

There was an article about that the other day. Paying up for a FA or making it happen via trade this off season.

Being the Reds seem to be so good at trading for quality pitching, or not.

Another really nice outing from Stephenson....If they can hold on, he'll move to 3-0 with a ~2.40 ERA in his last 4 starts. Also a K/9 of just north of 10. He still needs to work on his control, but he's putting together a solid foundation to build on.

Votto hits his 34th in the 7th, making it 5-2 Reds.

Upon returning to the dugout after hitting the homerun, Votto gives the bat and his jersey to a kid sitting near the dugout.

Reds will end August 14-14 if they can hold on. A solid September and they could have reason to be optimistic next season.

Just saw on Facebook that it wasn't just any kid. It was Superbubz. Just got a little misty-eyed right now.

Who is Superbubz?

Pitching again will be the key.

Robert Stephenson just closed out a nice month of August:

24.1IP

17H

2.22 ERA

1HR

13BB

28K

1.23 WHIP

Progress. Nice steps forward. #Reds

Gotta get the walks down.

Who is Superbubz?

He's a local 6 year old kid that has stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. Kid's been through a lot over the past 2 years since he was diagnosed. Had surgery just the other day, I believe. They ended up taking one of his fingers. I think I saw something a couple weeks ago where they thought he may only have a few weeks left.
