July 12, 20179 yr My local PBS station is replaying The Civil War and this caught my ear. "The Civil War was fought in ten thousand places..." Episode 1: "The Cause" Composer Jay Unger on violin, with wife Molly Mason on guitar. @Watusi began an insightful thread this morning, "Marriage Isn't About Your Happiness," in "the Break Room" forum.This song plays over the last segment, "Honorable Manhood." Sullivan Ballou's last letter, "Dear Sarah,..." Not just love, but faith, honor, respect, sacrifice, admitting faults, asking forgiveness; all elements of a lasting relationship. July 12, 20179 yr Heard this the other day. Probably haven't heard it since I was 5 or 6 and too young to care. I had never paid much attention to the folks until recently but, my goodness, they were good. Any other older folks like me ever listen to these people?

I was very young, but I remember this tune and digging it. This one and “Alfie” came out around the same time and though not really similar, somehow I always think of both when I hear either.
July 13, 20179 yr Michael Stipe of REM as guest vocalist on Faultline's 2002 "Your Love Means Everything" release. The entire record is a really nice listen with the likes of other guest vocalist such as Chris Martin, Jacob Golden, The Flaming Lips.
July 13, 20179 yr Mentioning Jacob Golden in my last post made me think of these couple of tunes that I haven't heard in a while. Not recognized here in the states, award winning Indian/British producer/composer Nitin Sawney has for nearly 25 years been putting out some lovely lush ear candy often times with the support of numerous wonderful guest vocalists highlighted on the tracks of his many releases. Not many of these vocalist are known here stateside, but have decent followings in England. Jacob Golden is an example of an American singer who is unknown here in the states and had made his career in England where his beautiful humble sweet vocal talents are much more appreciated.

July 13, 20179 yr Speaking of fine acts from England not known here in states, here's a tune from an electronic band name "Lamb" from Manchester with stunning lead vocalist Lou Rhodes. This gorgeous song "Gabriel" has always given me incredible goose bumps. I honestly believe that it's a crime that this song has never been released in the states. I have a hard time believing that there wouldn't be tons of folks moved by it. [video=youtube;hEhaDl-QkKo]
July 13, 20179 yr How crazy that the official video for "Gabriel" cuts off before the end of the song and misses so much of it's lush dramatic musical ending. The lyrics are lovely so here's the entire track with lyrics included... "Bless the day he came to me"
July 13, 20179 yr Here's a wonderful tune that I haven't heard in a while from Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice released in 2002 on his fantastic debut "0". We really need more output from this guy considering that he's only put out 3 releases in the last 15 years. [video=youtube;5YXVMCHG-Nk]
