I'm not saying one or two fools don't try it, but widespread fraud?! Nah There is a few cases of fraud, I'm sure. But widespread.... simply no evidence of that. I think the Kobach was even hard-pressed to find it in his own state of Kansas. Seems like I heard that he may have filed a dozen or so cases out of all the votes cast in his state.

July 5, 20179 yr Gerrymandering works both ways so please don't act like this is the sole province of one party or the other. Last census, with the Dems in control of the KY House, a large portion of Jefferson County that was more inclined to vote R was removed from John Yarmuth's district. Every time the subject of re-districting comes up in Louisville the NAACP among others always insist that districts be drawn so that there is an extreme likely hood that there will be a certain number of minority representative on the council. I could be wrong but did any on this thread insinuate that it was only a GOP activity? I think there's a long history from every aspect and convention in power.

So a sociology professor shouldn't cite historical practices and how they could still happen today from any political machine in power?

First off if you follow my posts on here I find modern day Sociology to be a fraud discipline , it's away for political activist to further cause hidden behind fake facts. Second whether there was suppression decades ago is irrelevant to 2017. There is not a single person in this country who can legally vote that can't in 2017. That is just a fact.

Unless they knew the person listed in the voting roll personally, they would never know as long as the ID matched. Remember some places dont ask for an ID, so how easy is it for fraud there.

Technically, I don't disagree. But for some it's much more difficult than for others. That's why it's called suppression and not prohibition.

July 6, 20179 yr Given voter turnout in 2016 was approximately 60%, it doesn't seem to me too awfully many fraudulent votes are being cast. The biggest travesty is 40% (or more, depending on the election) don't bother to vote at all, or face obstacles that keep them from the polls.
