Holy Cross will be good. But here are a few of my assessments on them.

 

They always seem to play Covcath close but can never get over that hump.

Holmes has blown them out 4 of the past 5 meetings. The one win coming when Lexie Brown got hurt.

 

Jim Ryan is no doubt a player, but Giwa seem lost at times. Jefferson abused him last year when HC and Holmes met. I think he had 4 or 5 turnovers in one half alone. Giwa just isn't aggressive enough.

As far as being big down low, yes i agree. But Eifert isn't the most coordinated kid. He WON'T be able to guard Rice of Holmes.

 

IMO Holy Cross SHOULD only lose 2 games to nky teams all year... Covcath and Holmes. HC just hasn't found a way to get over the hump yet against either. But with the talent Holmes has coming back this year, I really don't see Holy Cross or any other team (w/ the exception of CCH) being able to play with them.

 

I'd say that's pretty fair. I would guess even the HC players and coaches agree w/ that. Giwa was a freshman who played some varsity last year. DJ was one of the top 5 players in the region. I think Giwa's growth is by far the key to HC's season. It will also be interesting to see what Sullivan gives them.

Lots of talk about Ryan, Giwa & Eifert when talking about Holy Cross. I think their best player this year will be Corey Sorrell. I heard he had a great summer and is much improved over last year. He shot almost 50% from 3 point land last year. He could be the player who "puts them over the hump". They will have a strong starting 5, but depth will be a problem.

 

Why do you think Sorrell will be the best player on HC this year? I've seen Corey play quite a bit and unless he is knocking down a bunch of threes he isnt doing much else to impress. His best attribute is his spot up shooting but other than that I really dont understand why people keep saying how good he is. He has good height for a guard but he is neither strong enough or athletic enough to guard a great player. He also seems scared and timid out there a lot of times. He is a good role player in my opinion, a nice player to have out there to knock down a few shots but I wouldnt expect him to carry this team.

I agree i know him personally and played with him i think he will have a break out year:thumb:

I only saw Dixie play once last season, in December against SK and Mace only played a minute or so, I couldn't believe he didn't even dress for the JV game, the kid is huge but he needs to play at some level, if not on the varsity level, play him in the JV games.

I havent seen him a lot lately. I watched HC play 4 times last year. But I got to see him play a lot while he was coming up and I havent seen too much of a change in his game.

Scruggs is solid- he always gets the job done- but due to his lack of height I don't think he has the potential to take over a game like Sorrell and Ryan might have.

I didn't say that he could take over a game, I said the potential to do so. I, for one, do not think that Sorrell will as good of a season as many are saying (while I do wish him the best). But at least their is a possibility, for him.

Seems like you have something against Sorrell. If you haven't seen much of a change in his game, that's your problem. Obviously, most other people have.
