BGP QOTD: What is your favorite poor person meal?

I defer to my Asian side and have a bowl of steamed white rice and a can of tuna doused liberally with Kikoman soy sauce. It's actually really good and I still use it as a fall back when no one feels like cooking.

Papaw was reading over my shoulder, which drives me crazy even after 53 years. Since he is still playing chef, he thinks we're roughing it. So his menu from tonight was hash brows, tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, salt and thyme and baked @ 425 degree oven, and pork loin sliced inch thick, tenderizer and pounded flat dipped in egg wash and panko crumbs and fried. Yeah, he just wanted to brag. And to think he could not boil water a year ago. Also he didn't count on being the chef for this long either. Hopefully soon I will be master of the kitchen again. Back to the thread. Zest saltines with sliced tomatoes or back in childhood bread, butter and sugar. You did say POOR.

Ramen noodles with creole seasoning and dried minced onions.

I always put a hamburger patty in the freezer when I fix anything and fix those when I need to.

1. Ramen w/ cut up chicken breast

2. PB&J with a glass of whole milk

3. Beans & Rice

Ramen Noodles for the win, chicken flavored to be specific. When the noodle is cooked al dente and you add some italian seasonings and a little bit of spice (I'm on a Habanero black pepper kick lately) it is probably the best cheap meal you'll ever eat. Not to mention it can be prepared in 3 minutes.

I despise tomatoes in general but tomato soup and grilled cheese is a really good cheap meal as well and a little more filling than the ramen.

I've had a cold coming on for about a week and it's starting to make its way into my chest. The wife was at a work dinner last night and I couldn't decide what to have for dinner, so I pulled out a pack of chicken flavored Ramen noodles that we've had floating around in our pantry for probable 6 years now, lol. Hit the spot! I kinda want to have some for lunch now today.

Toss up.   I like Ramen with my own special blend of spices added.

If I don't want spicy, a gold old fashion fried bologna sandwich does hits the spot.

I feel like Ramen is a clear winner. It's essentially some really good noodles then you add whatever you wish to it. It's harvest season and while I don't have a garden I do have some friends and neighbors that do. So this year habaneros are doing well apparently and I've been putting them in Ramen different ways. You can cut them in half and let them boil with the water and noodles, throw the core and seeds in as well, when you drain the water the seeds will stick to the noodles, which adds a nice flavor in the long run. Then add whatever else ya want.

My favorite way lately to cook ramen though, is to precook the noodles then transfer to a wok and add whatever else ya want and stir fry it with whatever vegetables and protein you want, as well as whatever sauce that would pair with it.

So many things you can do with a pack or Ramen noodles if you have other things to add to it. That said, the noodles are high in sodium and my doctor says they're bad for me and anyone else in general. I'm still gonna eat them though..
