X vs T Decision / Your Thoughts

Featured Replies

Dennis Lampley said one time that he didn't care if they played on their old practice field. The game should be finished. They owe their seniors better than this. They owe the people that paid good money more than this. I would like to know who made the call. As for Sunday, the girls play on Sunday all the time. I don't think there is a KHSAA rule against it.

Are you guys forgetting that PJCS has a rather large staff. How about security. Do you suggest that someone just get on the phone and try to get these hundreds of support staff to just come in on their day off? And who pays them? with what money? The attendance would be cut at least in half, and I'm sure everyone would be OK with paying another $7 to $10 to get in. Sometimes bad things happen in life. If this were an average game at either home field maybe, but its a huge event that can't be put back together on short notice. I feel bad for the kids, but they do have a chance to meet again.

I agree. Shoot there have to be some officials SOMEWHERE who would be willing to do it.

Also a good point.

I GUARANTEE you the person who made the call was not an X or T grad. They would know what it means to the Seniors.

The reason the game can't be played tomorrow is because Bands of America is at PJCS tomorrow...

I was at the stadium, and I've never seen rain like that...There was at least two or three inches of water standing on the field for a good while. Pretty cool scene actually.

And that is more important than this game how? :walk:

  Didn't say it was, but that's what they get for scheduling a game when it couldn't be played the next day...It's called planning ahead. :p

I don't think the KHSAA allows for Sunday games.

It (Sunday games) has been done before. NewCath and CovCath played on a Sunday a few years ago when fields were not playable due to rain on Friday and Saturday.

Someone already corrected me on this one. :thumb:

old Cardinal stadium could still be used...

It's more important to UofL because the bands have the stadium for two days Saturday AND Sunday--and it's paid for already....

I was also informed in the press box, that this game will not be rescheduled.

I heard some unconfirmed information about Trinity declining a chance to finish it at their place, since it's really the only playable field left in town, but no reason why, of if that's even accurate.

I'm neutral, but I think it should be completed as soon as possible, but it ain't gonna happen unless something changes quickly.

Geez, I thought this game was a big deal and all, but I guess I didn't understand, not having lived it and all...

Just another game, doesn't matter to me one way or another whether it got played or not;;)

Seriously, I'm sure it's terribly disappointing to the players, but to those of us out here in the sticks that have been deprived all our lives, it really doesn't mean a thing. I'm much more concerned that the golf scramble that I'm supposed to play in tomorrow is a washout.

I am mildly curious if the Cantrell, Lit, etc. take the little bit that was played, in the event that the decision stands, into next week's rankings.

I agree. It leaves a hollow, unresolved feeling to end a game like this. Less than 1 quarter of regulation played, then poof--game over. I remember one time about 10 years ago Male was playing X at Manual Stadium and the game was called due to a lightning storm, but it was finished the following day. It was a playoff game, if I recall correctly, and I think they had to finish it. But there are precedents for finishing the game the next day.

I think they should find a way to finish it (tomorrow hopefully). Or offer refunds to the 35,000+ who paid for tickets to a game that was barely underway when everyone was sent home...
