Paducah Tilghman hires Steve Duncan

Does anyone know if he was an assistant at Bourbon Co. in the early 70's? Is he in his late 60's?

To my knowledge he wasn't; early-mid 60's. I think it's more towards the early side.

Steve is a very nice guy. I think he is going to do well at PT. He could be exactly the type of coach they need at this point.

Anyone a bit nervous about the offense he runs? He's a coach that coaches the wishbone and the PT faithful we're very upset with Coach Rogers and his offense and it not bringing out kids. That's my only concern.

He gets results but there is no flash

I agree. I just know the parents/boosters were upset with Coach Rogers and the offense he ran, and players started threatening to quit. The offense Coach Duncan runs is quite similar. Not the spread offense Tilghman craves.

I love them all (styles of play), but the pass (no pun intended) that "spread" teams get absolutely is comical these days (and, I get it...somewhat..it's what people see on tv).

But, you're right and it's just not at PT. Go .500 or be absolutely horrid out of the "spread", and it's ok. Have those same results under center, old school Wing T, Wishbone, etc? All hell breaks loose.

I even see it with good programs/teams in years; Go 8-4,10-2 out of the "spread"? Nothing said. Be "old school" and do that? Experts out the wazoo on how they "could've won", "been better", etc if said team had been running a different offense.

They'll be just fine and then some IMO.

(This post isn't directed towards you; I've had the same worry, but I'm really pulling for him to prove all those people wrong)

A wise man once said "3 things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of em are bad" lol. I too am pulling for Coach Duncan, hope it turns out well.

Duncan's offense makes Roger's offense look like the air raid. You MIGHT see PT throw 50 total passes this season.

Is Coach Duncan going to incorporate the wishbone, single wing or flexbone? I would love to see them run the triple option....just my preference.

So are you saying if they run the spread and throw it around 40 times a game and go 2-8 all will be good?

Will be a great hire
