March 14, 20179 yr For those who think they are overpaid - particularly @Footballforever74 and @FeelingGood - answer me these few simple questions, when you have an annual budget between $150-175 Million, and.... 18 campuses to maintain, from electrical, plumbing and HVAC, to waxing floors and making sure the paint is clean, straight down to shoveling the sidewalks in the winter and sweeping up after volleyball games 1000+ faculty and staff members to manage, hire, fire, provide required continuing education opportunities for, figure out health insurance and other benefits for 18+ special needs programs for mentally and/or physically handicalled students, along with otherwise troubled students 18 cafeterias and associated kitchens to keep in sound operation, maintain health department compliance, and organize a menu for for two meals a day 30+ concession stands to maintain health department compliance for 250+ buses to maintain, fuel, and provide drivers for 250+ athletic teams...plus coaching staffs to be paid and or have backgrounds checked for all of those teams Where do you spend every single dollar of that $150-175 million? How do you go about justifying and properly documenting every single penny of expenditure to the state? What do you do when some idiot parent decides to sue your school district? How much do you honestly...HONESTLY think the person responsible for all of that should be paid? I want you to give me an actual salary that you think is fair. By the way...I've barely even started to scratch the surface of the responsibilities the superintendent has for overseeing actual classroom education.

March 14, 20179 yr $180,000 and alot more than me. They deserve every penny. You, on the other hand...
March 14, 20179 yr  That's a great response I notice that you didn't have a response for my post last week either. I'd be intrigue to hear what you think that person's salary should be considering everything they must manage. At $180K, that Superintendent is underpaid.
March 14, 20179 yr The rumor flying around is that all three will back in some capacity. You must be retired 100 days before you can be rehired. Retiring April 1st gives them enough time to come back in July, when the new school year begins. Might just be a case of setting up to double dip.

This is exactly what I was thinking due to the retirement dates.

I'd be intrigue to hear what you think that person's salary should be considering everything they must manage. At $180K, that Superintendent is underpaid. It should be noted that 180K is salary. It does not include retirement matches, car stipend, etc. This package is most likely worth well over 200K. Superintendent packages are quite lucrative. The super is not overpaid, but she is certainly not underpaid by any means.

March 14, 20179 yr 90,000 I was going to respond to this nonsense, until I saw your following post: Plus 3 months off. You are so out of touch with reality if you honestly believe that a Superintendent, or any district office Administrator has three months of summer off.

But as I understand it, because I'm in the CERS division of KY Retirement System, they cannot come back in the same capacity/job.
March 14, 20179 yr But as I understand it, because I'm in the CERS division of KY Retirement System, they cannot come back in the same capacity/job. That makes sense. But even so, they could still come back in a high role with less pressure and but a still nice salary that combined with the pension, puts them ahead financially from where they were. I can't say I blame them, or that I would do something differently if given the same opportunity.

Also, if they want the state's health insurance(until age 65) they have to work less than 100 hours per month.
