Watchmen
I hope each school can post what their respective schools are doing for their players and team. I was just told SK is doing Nothing for their girls team. No pep bus No pep rally No missing even a minute of school No send off (short video played in the morning congratulating them) Seriously!!! Lets see. Pep bus shows tremendous gratitude and appreciation. Not to mention it saves the students parking fee's, ensures a solid fan base and just simply means a lot to school spirit. Nope!!! not Kenton County If they were out of town what in the world would they do about school? Miss the tournament? How about giving them a little break and help them pursue a life long dream? The students can't enjoy the moment with the team? School and community spirit? Naaaa. I guess this school board and administration just simply don't have any. Sour grapes?? Not really. I don't have a kid on the team but I remember the pep rallies, community support, school support and all that came with such trips and I find it terribly sad this school has made a very poor decision. Watchmen
Holmes High School: We are proud to announce the Holmes Lady bulldog basketball team won the 9th Region championship again this year and will be heading to the State Tournament this week. Last year they participated in a send off tour to all the elementary schools and loved seeing the students in our district supporting them. We would like to repeat this sendoff this year and let the girls know that we are all cheering for them. The bus will visit each elementary school..... students are asked to lineup outside with signs and banners and the players will visit with the students briefly before moving on to each school. The visit will last approximately 10 minutes.
Watchmen
Posted by passtheball: Sacred Heart bringing up students on buses for $15 including ticket and excused absence. I think they will have big numbers for the noon game on Wednesday.
Watchmen
Posted by Jim Schue: Student tix + bus ride for Nelson Co. kids for Wednesday's game for $11. It's been since 1990 for that school, so I anticipate they'll have a big crowd. The NC boys have never been to the Sweet 16.

I know this is for this year but last year Campbell County had a send off at the high school then the middle schoolers came out to 27 and high five with the girls. There was no pep bus as for the most of them they car pooled or it was closer to drive to the arena. Then on Friday when they played they closed ALL schools to allow students, faculty & staff to attend and Campbell County brought one heck of a crowd last year. Watchmen
I was told they charged $5 for each student plus ticket. Not hard to do the same for the state tournament is it? Why try to make a profit off your students. I'm sure the $150'collected paid for the gas and bus driver salary. But let's be real, are they really that petty? yota
Boycott Independemce Walgreens!!!!! When asked to help show support for the team by putting something on their marquee sign , they flat out said no, " We don't do that!! Really!!??? They don't seem to have any problem using that sign to tell the community that they have Piomeer apparel for sale!! Only marquee sign in the area ,other than the city building. Maybe one of our city officials will step up!!!

Francine Thomas - Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers Police Escort!!! Very cool! I'm guessing the school had nothing to do with that? Apparently they refuse to do anything on their own accord. Do they not pay their light bill? Is their a reason they don't have any lights on with all those people on site? Holy smoke has it come to the point we cannot even turn the lights on? They should probably cut them down for scrap so the principle or superintendent can get another raise The more I hear and see the Kenton county school system is going down the wrong path if this is the way they handle things
jakeandabby
GRC is taking the "Tour of Champions" today through all five of the elementary schools in Clark County. The team travels to each school for the elementary aged kids to greet the team and send them off with signs, cheers and goodies. For those that remember doing this with the 2014 team, they say it is one of the best memories they have from that trip. The team will be sent off from the high school tomorrow morning to make the trip to "The Bank"
denniscarguy
SK girls basketball won a Regional Championship two years ago. Anybody seen a banner in the gym? I see a football banner. Will they earn a banner for this year? Did they take fan buses to football championships in the past? Priorities from the AD? Walgreens should be ashamed! Hopefully the city will recognize them on their marquee.

It's been since 1990 for that school, so I anticipate they'll have a big crowd. The NC boys have never been to the Sweet 16. More than 700 tickets sold and 5 or 6 pep buses from what I saw on Twitter. The other local schools — Bardstown, Thomas Nelson, Bethlehem — sent the NC girls congratulations and good luck wishes, as well as some candy. Locker room was decorated and a pep rally this afternoon before the girls loaded up in a limo through town and then off to NKU. I'm thinking NC might have a good walk-up crowd too.
