Cooper 54 Holy Cross 41 (9th Region Quarter-Final)

All year long Barnes has been told to post up and stay on the block, he isn't comfortable doing that and has little offensive skills, as far as drawing fouls, he has actually asked to come out of games this year due to the fear of shooting free throws, Meinze had little to no impact last night , missed point blank lay ups which happened often this year when he got his chance, had 2 quick turnovers and struggled defensively, Zimmerman dribbles in circles and then forces a 3, I'm confused that nobody has mentioned Williams 10+ turnovers last night, I'm sure Cooper will send him a gift basket today, he also gave away several games this year but some are too busy blaming the Schrand kid, good luck to HC moving forward, for all the AAU stars that didn't play for HC this year please post your schedules so we can all see what we missed out on all year, can't wait to critique your coaching staff

The very first time Meinze touched the ball he made a terrific spin move to the basic for the score and in short order was back on the bench.

Zimmerman actually does have ball skills and can and does hit the 3 as he did immediately upon entering the game, and in short order was back on the bench.

No doubt Schrand can drain the 3, but balls skills... not so much.

Meinze and Zimmy were terribly under utilized and given very little chance to get into any kind of flow. Meinze's size was much needed, and having another ball handler on the court in Zimmy wouldn't hurt either.

I recall last season Barnes being quiet often in games, and then when he turned it on he'd become a monster around the basket with either rebounding or point blank layups. I can't understand the hot and coldness of that, but when the monster comes to life he can dominate. I didn't see any of that last night, and why it isn't worked on and emphasized is beyond me.

Around the beginning of the 4th H.C. was down around 6 but so few times would make attempts to get to the rim. When they did it worked, and they'd draw a foul, but kept settling for looking for the open perimeter shot. They had plenty of time to keep trying to penetrate, draw fouls, stop clock, get to the line, inch by inch get the score closer, but they wasted possession after possession not aiming to do so. Someone should've been instructing them to take this approach, but it didn't much appear that anyone was.

Good points, I can't understand Barnes lack of interest in scoring, you are correct about last year, he took over in stretches, I still don't understand why everyone on here gives Williams a pass though, he is rarely mentioned and I think he was a major disappointment all year and cost them several games when things got tight

In response to a few on this thread...

HC's trip to regionals was based solely on a good district draw and a little luck in the opening round against Beechwood...nothing more.

Last night's game was nothing new, HC coaches failed to make adjustments. If the game plan fails, and players aren't executing-i.e. committing turnovers-you adjust...utilize your bench.

Not sure why Niehaus wasn't given the opportunity to run the point?

Not sure about many things-

Why wasn't ball pushed inside?-opens your outside game-genius!

Why don't players roll hard off picks and look for the ball?

Why isn't defense a priority?

Unfortunately, IMO, much potential squandered this season.

Good luck to the Jags as they move forward.

Comical....he hangs with the #8 team in the state with a very average team and he is a horrible coach. You should take the job next year lamontab. I will wait and see how many district titles you win the next 5 years...good luck!

The funny thing is if I did have that job the players would have given me everything they had every time they stepped on the court...

You really joined the site to get on here an rip on high school kids. You are no better than those parents to whom you are directing these shots.

Wow you think Barnes cost HC games? I see you critique the seniors but neither Schrand.

I think it is more about lashing back at one particular poster if I am reading things right.

Thank you B-Ball- fan and sportsfan 1989 for seeing what the rest of us close to this team have known and seen all along.

As for your comments luke 13, your correct on Williams turnovers, as well as Meinze's. Although I beleive only one of those turnovers of Meinze's was his fault. But in case you didn't notice every HC player that touched the floor in this game turned the ball over Save for the ones that played the last minute. Meinze has never been comfortable playing this year because of the crap from the coaches. Barnes as well. And a few others while I'm thinking about it. Every person on this team has missed a point blank layup, turned the ball over, made mistakes, yet you want to point out just a couple. Biggest problem with this team is coaching plain and simple. I have listened to McClendon tell players something different than Schrand. The coaches can't even work with each other as evident in Owensboro back in Dec. Schrand should have been fired then. he gave up on his team in the third quarter of a game and didn't start coaching until game almost over when he put his son back in. Yes these kids made a lot of mistakes, but coaching forced a lot of what we saw.

I don't recall anyone blaming Nolan Schrand for what happened with this team. It was said by others that I, Nuff said and lamontab were blaming the losses on him, and we made it very clear that we were putting the blame on Schrand alright, the coach. I have held back a lot but now that the season is over my son can face no reprocussions so there it is. Schrand is horrible. If you put the right group of kids on the floor to get the job done, and make proper adjustments for the team your facing, watch and see who is making the biggest difference on floor and sub accordingly, oh wait you can't do that or your son won't play more minutes than anyone else! McClendon doesn't know how to talk to kids or anyone for that matter. Muck might be alright if he would coach his own game. Yes this is my opinion. You don't have to agree with it but many do.

:isurrender: I am done. Its so old to keep hearing its the coaches fault not only on this thread but all the other sports as well. At some point kids have to make some plays whatever the sport. Coaches don't tell kids to fumble, they don't tell kids to miss layups, they don't tell kids to strike out. How about tipping your hat to the other team and saying they were just better tonight. The majority of coaches want to win the respected sport they coach and they also put the kids in position to excel but sometimes the KID doesn't perform. Coaching is a thankless job period! Everybody has an opinion and I respect that but blaming a coach gets really old! On the hire level of college and pro yes I get it...they are paid millions to get it done but high school kids you have know idea sometimes what they might do.

My post clearly states Barnes used to take over games and no longer does, post also clearly states Williams was a disappointment not Barnes, he had costly turnovers at end of a lot of games

Hello Albuquerque

I attended almost every HC game this year and cheered for every kid nonstop, my post are directed at other people's nasty comments all year long

I think it is more about lashing back at one particular poster if I am reading things right.

You are 1000% correct
