2017/2018 9th Region

Don't forget about Rico Hollis. There aren't 10 players in the region better than him next year.

Strong going to the rim. Needs to develop a solid jumper.

Never been a great shooter but is one of the best defenders in the region and as you said, very good going to the rim. Knows his strengths and plays to them very well.

......if he can stay on the floor the entire season, but yes the young man is a damn good player.

Exactly. They are clearly the preseason "paper champions" for next year, but anything can happen over the course of a season, or a game.

Just like NewCath in 2014 & 2015.

Hollis can do some excellent things. Not sure he's top 5, but yes, would certainly say top 10. Never understood what the deal was with him this year, not being able to stay in the floor. He could be a really good one!!

Would he have been better off staying out at Newport? Will he be at Holmes next year?

The Calloway brothers will make Holmes a lot better next year.

Who? Elaborate.

I think he would've been better off at Newport again this season. Coach Snapp always get his guys to play hard, adding Hollis to this Seasons team they would've been tough! Even tougher next season. No word on if he's at Holmes next season or not, But I expect him to be at Holmes again next season.

I don't know if he sees JV or varsity next year as a freshman but he is referring to Tez Calloway...already around 6'0-6'1. Had multiple games as a 7th grader where he put up 35+, including a 50 point game. Very good player who can dominate inside but also gets a lot of his points by hitting from outside and mid range jumpers. Definitely a name to remember. One of the better players in the area for his age.

Hollis going to Holmes was best for all parties involved...both on and off the court.

Newport was better this year without him.

I know that I have a dog in the fight, but here's my take on NCC next year. They will definitely be senior and guard heavy. The Holy Trinity boys of Hall, Pangallo, and McDaniel will run the show. With Luken being the only experienced big at the 5. The big question is who will step up to fill in at the 4 position. Will it be Iles, who was set back with a shoulder injury, or one of of the few juniors-to-be that stuck around. They will definitely need the freshman from this year to develop and improve over the summer. Also, I'm sure coach Kenny will learn from his freshman season as head coach and have the boys ready for next season.

Nice returning group. Challenge is there's only one solid outside shooter there in the 3 guards. Luken can shoot. I like Luken's game. I'd encourage him to tighten up the body a bit because I wouldn't want his minutes limited due to conditioning. He can be the #2 weapon for NCC next year if he stays on the floor.

McDaniel can be a nice offensive option as well.

They'll be a good team as always.

Good team. Good coach.

Looked good in the 1st round of districts v Cov Cath. If he can stay eligible and at one school, he's top 5 in the region.

Walter, what's your perspective on Holmes overall? Is this the make or break season for Listerman?

Winning keeps kids/parents happy. Heck, some of the kids will be happy to be on the roster and to get to go to regionals and state every year :)
