Kevin Garnett's opinion of AAU

Featured Replies

If fundamentals aren't being taught then he has a point. I'm sure that is painting with a broad brush.

We teach fundamentals. However, not sure that it's my kids that are (or ever will) ruining the NBA.

Does a kid spend more time with his HS team or AAU team?

AAU is by nature, an individual show case. Not motivating for team play or success. Do kids even care if they win or lose in these games?

Exactly

Depends on what your goal is. However, usually, your goals are matched to your athleticism. In our program, we teach team and fundamentals. I don't have any NBA kids in my program. I have some kids that can play college sports, most likely not basketball though. Every program is different and has different goals.

I'm not sure you can pinpoint just the NBA, but I'm sure it definitely plays a large part of it.

Just watching Lame Ball score his 90 something points tells me there is definitely something wrong in a lot of places.

You see a random kid every other weekend and you are OK being selfish. You play under a coach and kids you see everyday it is easier to buy into a team sport.
