Hollingsworth finished with 44 tonight on 15/22 from the field. Absolutely outstanding career. Easily Mr. Basketball and if he isn't then the system is just not right. Congrats to LCA.

15/22. :lol2: :lol2:

What a treasure. I look forward to watching him play at WKU.

Hollingsworth is special. Just didn't have the supporting cast that he needed.

When Dontell Brown went down for the season and Tre Homer moved to Texas with his dad PLD was left with a Taveion and their JV team from last season. Considering all that you can't be to hard on Dunbar for the season they had and the schedule they faced.

Was a joy to watch Taveion play and he will do very well at WKU. LCA is long and can shoot the ball, not a complete surprise that they won, oh and young.

Just proves how tough the 11th is, especially from teams 1-6. If the state tournment was like the college tournament they would be the ACC of the tournament with probably 4-5 worthy teams filling the brackets.

Its going to be a great regional tournament to watch:ylsuper:

When's the last time a defending state champ failed to make the region? I have a hard time believing such a thing has happened in the modern era since the round of consolidations in the late '60s/early '70s.

Owensboro last season I believe.

Yes Owensboro won it all in 2015 and then lost in the first round of the 9th district in 2016 73-54 to Owensboro Catholic.

The last time before then that has happened was Lafayette won the state in 2001, then followed up not making the regional in 2002. They did beat Bryan Station in the play in game 51-36 but didn't make the region losing to Tates Creek 70-55 in the 43rd district semi-finals.

Pretty sure Simon Kenton didn't go to regional in 1982 after winning it all in 81.

He's special ! Plays with the Gary Peyton edge and his jumper hs gotten so much better ! Going to have a real chance to be a pro

The loss of their big guy Brown to injury was the difference. That was a huge loss for their team. He was impressive in the state tournament last year.
