Who wins this game between these long time foes? Tilghman has played a very tough schedule so I don't think you can make a case that they are a bad team even though they haven't won a game. Mayfield is coming off a lopsided win over Union County and may have a let down. Mayfield will have to shore up their defense if they want to have any chance in this game.

 

My pick is Mayfield in a squeaker 28-21.

This game will depend on which Mayfield team shows up as far as the turnovers go...if they are the team that does not turn the ball over and plays keep away from Tilghman then I say Mayfield wins 28-14...but if the Cards put in on the ground and throw some INT's then Tilghman will get their first win of the season. IF both teams bring their "A" game this should be a fun contest to watch and will go down to the wire just as the majority of contests between these two proud programs have done in the past as alot of people may not realize that while Tilghman is down from their accustomed high standards...don't let their 0-4 record fool you...their losses have come against top teams such as Ft. Campbell, Warren Central, Henderson County, and Graves County...so alot of teams would be 0-4 playing that competition and most of the those games were not decided until late in the game.

Good game summaries guys, I agree, the turnovers are gonna be key in this game for sure. Tilghman is one of those teams that loves to capitalize on turnovers and will be waiting for Mayfield to make mistakes. Hopefully if Landon Heath makes it to this game he can provide some much needed relief on the O-line for Mayfield and help open up some holes for our backs to get some good gains on the ground. McNutt should be able to keep the kickoff return from happening, which is an excellent weapon to have against Tilghman. Mayfield has shown some weaknesses with the running defense so I hope that the defense comes in with the "A" game or this could be a high scoring affair with the highest scoring team coming out on top. I still pick Mayfield to come out on top 28-20.

This game could go either way..Does Mayfield come out ready or will they be flat..This is a jeckyl and hyde team and you really never know..Will the week off pay divedends for PT or will they be a little off after the 2 week layoff..hard to say what will happen in this one..I'd like Mayfield to pull it off, but, something tells me that PT needs the win more and some much needed confidence going into district play, therefore, I'm going to say they pull it out in a squeaker...PT 28 Mayfield 24...

I agree with all the above posts...I think this simply comes down to if Mayfield can get some pressure on Tilghman's QB while also not allowing the Tilghman backs to get to and turn the corner.

 

I like Mayfield in this one with the difference coming through on special teams! Chance of rain Friday could make for a slower surface also which favors the Cards!!!

I'll pull for the little guy again. Tilghman does not appear to have game-breakers this year, and from all reports Shelton is poised to be one of the top QB's in the state, and Mayfield's kicker is awesome. Birds 28 Tilghman 14.

PT always has a game breaker or 2 or 3 or 4....

Their record is oh so misleading, very tuff schedule

They played Graves much closer than the Cards

They are in need of this win more than Mayfield

They have been up for Mayfield the past couple of years than Mayfield has been for them

 

They scare me to death, This game looks about even to me and if they figure out how to get to the corners good night Birds

Tilghman still has the David Jones kid at QB who is more of a threat with his running ability than with his arm...but Tilghman does have some speedy WR's that can stretch the field and while Jones is not that great of a passer...he will still sling it downfield and all he needs is just for one or two completions downfield and it is off to the races. But he still scares me as the type of QB that Hoptown had that can beat the pressure the D-line can apply and hurt you by exposing the gaps in the defense. Also they have a bruiser of a fullback in Mike Jones who can run over you and also by you as he runs a 4.5 40. Tilghmans problem this year is that they don't have much to go along with those two as they are very young, but talented...they just need time to mature. I know Coach Thomas is looking for big things out of his team as they get more seasoned...may not be this year, but if the younger kids get some confidence then watch out come playoff time as they might be able to surprise a few teams. If Mayfield can keep up with the Joneses then they should be able to bring home the win...as I know the seniors for the Cards do not want to go 0-4 against the Big Blue in their high school career.

 

Should be a lot of fun this Friday as you can literally throw out the records when these two teams get together.
