I'm not saying I am FOR illegal immigration. But as Americans, we need to take a hard look at ourselves, because we all think we are better than a lot of jobs. And the illegals or recent legally immigrated actually benefit US citizens, especially in the agricultural areas. We could round up and deport every illegal citizen, but it would not even touch our unemployment statistics.

That's a bit of an oxymoron, you can not be illegal and be a citizen. And I believe that's a bit of hyperbole. I for one don't buy the jobs wouldn't get done argument. I got it, lets make able bodied welfare recipients do jobs like that. No wait I forgot welfare cheats don't exist either.

I guess it will be interesting to see what happens. Those jobs exist today, and other low wage, crappy wage jobs exist that are really tough to fill and keep filled. I guess though, you won't believe me...Because I am...What??? A liberal?

Got nothing to do with your political leanings. First, I firmly support sanctioning companies that employ illegals. Start doing that and they stop hiring them. Then to get necessary jobs filled they offer better wages because with out illegals they can't pay off the books. Like I suggested, make able bodied welfare recipients fill those jobs. Last resort, like someone else suggested, lets let prisoners do those jobs.

 

I'm feeling especially salty about this today. Yesterday at Kroger a panhandler approached me as I was coming out and asked me to help them get something to eat. I reached in my bad and offered them some chips. They told me to go to ...

Only stops part of it, the direct part, where companies/owners knowingly do this. Its very easy to fake papers for illegals to get hired. Heck you can get a driver's license without being a citizen.

But that is on us the people, we voted in the clowns that made it more beneficial (Financially) to sit on our butts at home and collect the government dollar than to go work for it.

When they have to start paying a decent wage, they'll be able to find people to do those jobs. The reason they hire illegals isn't because no one will do the job...it's because illegals will do it for much much less pay under the table.

It is HARD to fill those positions, and it's hard to keep turnover down. Nothing to do with the immigration status, but as an example, it's a position that is always available, often at better than minimum wage. There aren't a ton of able bodied welfare recipients or out of work white collar folks lining up for the jobs. They aren't being filled by illegals either.

Sounds like then the job needs to be made more attractive so that there are a ton of able bodied welfare recipients or out of work white collar folks lining up for the jobs. A company issue.
