Ryle 34 Campbell County 7

Featured Replies

I don't think C.C will make it in the playoffs. I think it's gonna finish with Ryle,Dixie,Boone, and SK getting the top 4 spots. C.C didn't show me enough last night for me to think they are going to go beat Dixie or Boone this year. I think them and SK will be fighting for that last playoff spot.

Anybody know what Gray finished with rushing?

Wow. Ryle starting to roll....

Very nice win for Ryle!

This game can be summarized as follows:

1) 8 CC Turnovers (I believe 3 fumbles and 5 picks). Ryle's D is solid but the Camels insisted on shooting themselves in the foot all evening. Despite the interceptions, the Camel's QB (Brown #12) gave a valiant effort. The Camel "O" is much better than what they showed on Friday night.

2) Field Position. Ryle's kicking game was incredible. They kept the Camels backed up for most of the game. The punter (#28) did a good job and the place kicker (Uminger #14) was outstanding. This kid has to be a D1 prospect. What a leg! The Camel's PK Hildebrand did not get a chance to showcase his stuff. He's got a cannon for a leg as well.

Despite the score, it was a hard hitting, fun game to watch. It was close all the way up to the the 4th Quarter where 3 Camel TO's lead to easy Ryle scores.

Ryle is well on their way. The Camels must make some adjustments but they will be in the thick of the 4A District hunt.

At what point do we start talking about how good the Ryle defense is? Against NCC, they said "NCC shot themselves in the foot with 6 turnovers." Now against CC, the Camels "shot themselves in the foot all night with 8 turnovers." C'mon people, how about that Raider D? I'll agree that the score was close for 2 1/2 quarters, but really, the outcome was never in doubt. CC didn't get anything going offensively all night long, and just as in the NCC game, Ryle wore down CC's defense, and gained field positon thru spec. teams, and scored a couple of late touchdowns. I will say that the Camel QB is one tough kid, because he took some tremendous shots tonight. Not a real great thrower of the pigskin though, IMO, and made some poor decisions with the football in his hands. Another solid game for Scotty Gray, and Vince "johnny on the spot" Murray. Keep getting better each week Raiders, we haven't played our best game yet!

I have to agree...I have been very impressed w/ Ryle's defense so far. I've had a chance to see them twice and both times it was their hits that led to the turnovers. Last night Ryle totally wore down C.C's offense and as you said, the qb took many tough licks. The offense needs to come around a little more though. The rushing game is no doubt there, they just need to work on their passing game a little and then we can start talking about which Louisville team they'll be seeing later in the year. :thumb:

As far as your last sentence, that's the scary part. Ryle hasn't played their best game yet, and they're still taking care of business rather handily. I just hope they have an off night next friday at home against the Dawgs from Covington. :D;)

I believe Ryle has a very good team. Their running game is solid and their kicking game is phenomenal at that level. Their d is very good as well. I watched the game as well last night and believe the game was more of a 21-7 game. Ryle picked off one (which was in the cc players hand) and ran it all the way in for the td. Ryle also caused two fumbles in which they picked the ball up and ran it all the way in. Not taking anything away from the hits but a team normally doesn't pick the ball up and run it all the way in for three touchdowns.

Ryle will be tough to beat and the camels may get there by the end of the season.

Congrats Raiders!! Best start in Ryle's History i believe...

That's a lot of "foot-shootin" goin' on!! Congrats to Ryle and their defense!! Good "D" has a way of making the other team shoot themselves in the foot. Were the Campbell faithful getting a little too excited with all their "Best 4-A team in NKY" talk after their 2-0 start against a couple of patsies??

I agree that some of the Camel faithful were blowing their horn too soon after those first two games. One district game doesn't determine if you will make the playoffs. Fortunately for the Camels there are still six more left and hopefully there will be a playoff game in Alexandria this year. Ryle won the district last year and looks capable of repeating after all of those Camel turnovers they took advantage of in earning their victory last night.

Soda, you're on the money on this one!! Campbell will still be a force in 4-A and the schedule works for the Camels on this matter, with Dixie and Boone (2 of their 3 toughest remaining games) at home. I see them handling Conner and Scott the next two weeks, and Holmes in the final. Their tests will come with SK at SK, and the above two at home. Take care of business in the first three, and win one or two of the others and they should be in the playoffs!!

Is the Ryle "D" that tough, or do the Camels have some work to do on offense??

Best swarming D I've seen at Ryle in the years I have watched them. They are not only tough and quick, but fly to the ball as a team. Campbell had two very nice long pass completions where the Ryle back was in good position but the ball was thrown perfectly and the receivers made good grabs. I did not see an explosive back like Popp from last year and that was the biggest difference. Brown throws better than last year and looks like a good leader and certainly can take a hit. I see the Camels as a 4A playoff team.

IMO that is Ryle's only weakness. Any team who has a big bruising back that is explosive like the one Glen Este had, Ryle may struggle with them. Other than that, I really don't see them losing another game this year. They won't face another back like that.

So you are picking Ryle to win 4A this season? Pretty bold prediction for the second week of September.
