Garoppolo to Cleveland?

The only way they would be able to trade him is if they franchise him. They ain;t doing that for a back up QB. He is a Free Agent and probably go the highest bidder. It would be nice to be Jimmy right now. He holds all the cards.

Garoppolo is not holding any cards right now. He will become a Free Agent after the 2017 season. So right now, the New England Patriots are holding all the cards and they may decide to deal Garoppolo before the 2017 draft to the highest bidder so they aren't left holding the Joker after the 2017 season.

New England has the right to trade him before he becomes a Free Agent. The time to get the most for him is now, before the 2017 draft. He will be worth some draft picks. How high and how many depends on how desperate the teams are who need a QB. He was a second round pick in 2014.

My bad you are correct. My sincerest apology

Garoppolo is not worth changing getting rid of many picks for imo. There is even less to know about how he would do than even McCarron. Plus throw in the fact that he plays for the Pat's who proved they can win still no matter even when Brady is out shows that. Matt Cassell went 11 and 5 when Brady was out, Jimmy g did well, and even the third stringer one a game this year.

So in New England he probably would do well, because the coaching and the system makes sure of it. However how he would do anywhere else is a question. Which does make it hard to give up many draft picks.

If I'm the Browns I stick with my picks unless he could be had for only a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

One thing the Browns have is draft picks and money to spend. The one thing they don't have is a QB, not even remotely one. I think I'd do about what it takes to get McCarron or Garopollo and still draft one early and late. They have to get a QB or they have no chance in the AFC North. 2 of the other three teams are going to be good every year.

They also don't have much anywhere else, but when they had a better than decent defense before last year, the lack of a QB caused them to not be as effective. Teams have to get the QB. At least one to the AD or Alex Smith level. The average QB in the league.

I've got two words for any owner/GM that's even thinking about paying through the nose for a backup QB...Brock Osweiler.

A cautionary tale, indeed.

They could have Rodgers and struggle until they fix what they've got going on up front. You can't block the defensive fronts of the 3 teams in your division, that leads to 6 losses. Start there.

I honestly think Kessler could be a good qb for them. He didn't look to bad, even though he didn't have much around him. So I wouldn't get rid of a 1stround pick for Jimmy G. I would use that to keep building the rest of the team. Unless you can get him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I hope you're right about Kessler. I think the rest of your post is the way Cleveland will proceed. I doubt they give up a first rounder for Garoppolo.

I can almost guarantee you that New England will take advantage of this situation where Mike Brown will not with a similiar situation with McCarron. Given Jackson's relationship with McCarron the Bengals could have the advantage here unless Jackson is not that high on him. Regardless as another poster stated there are 3 teams with high picks that need QBs and it's a weak QB class overall.
