January 24, 20179 yr See Article below. It appears he is off to a good start with them for sure. Trump Wins The Unions: Teamsters Praise TPP Withdrawal, Labor Chiefs Describe "Incredible" Meeting With Trump | Zero Hedge
January 24, 20179 yr Labor unions love protectionism, which is definitely on offer with the new president. He's not a traditional Republican and has no love for the free market when it comes to international trade.
January 24, 20179 yr Author Let me ask you guys a question. What will it take for Trump to do for you all to give him credit. He so far is doing exactly what he said he was going to do, the best I can tell. We are only a few days in. When has any of the past 4/5 presidents been at it like this? I am being serious.

We are only a few days in. When has any of the past 4/5 presidents been at it like this? I am being serious. He's been in 2 days he is taking on Obamacare. I will never be happy with him doing that. He is isolating us from most of the free world. Why should I be happy with that? Out consumer prices will go through the roof in a few months is this goes through. He spends time getting his forces to worry about crowds at a n inauguration. He has done nothing to make me giddy nor ticked. He has been blah. I am waiting for greatness. Ain't seen it. When he does something I like, I will say it. Always have always will.
January 24, 20179 yr When companies can't move, won't Unions become more powerful than ever before? Nope. They're even more expendable than ever. The thing so roundly ignored in discussions of all the lost jobs overseas and the closed plants is that while manufacturing jobs have declined by a massive amount since the mid-1980s, US manufacturing output has DOUBLED in that same time. Productivity increases and advances in technology have allowed firms to do more with fewer workers. It's the 21st century. Labor had better stop looking to the past or things are only going to get worse for them.

At least you answered.

We are only a few days in. When has any of the past 4/5 presidents been at it like this? I am being serious. Call me an anomaly but I'm a Democrat that wanted TPP to pass. It needed some work (especially in the way it handled intellectual property), but isolating American economic power at a time when China is expanding massively in the same region seems completely foolish to me. As for what he can do that I'll give him credit for, let's see what he does and I'll judge each action on its merits. If he follows through on his promise to take on Big Pharma, I'll be first in line to congratulate him.

I get the American worker will be pushed out by automation in the near future, and companies are searching for those advances sooner rather than later, but it seems that workers and demand for labor will have more power in the short term before Skynet becomes self aware. :lol2: It may be just one shining moment.
January 24, 20179 yr So nothing. At least you answered. Nothing Earth shattering, but I didn't expect that this early. As @Getslow said take on big Pharma, take on term limits, get healthcare for all (high risk is not health care for all, been there done that mess), get a handle on immigration, take out ISIS and terrorism (I would applaud that more than Reps applauded Obama for his Bin Laden efforts), All of these things are good that he said or promised. My concern is I have heard some convey that he just said some of these things to get elected, they didn't expect him to carry it out. Well, I do. Whether I like it or not, let's find someone that does what they say will do, that will be different.

He's not a traditional Republican and has no love for the free market when it comes to international trade. No love for bad deals is what he said.. I don't think he's against trade, just against our jobs leaving because of bad trade deals.

My father in law was prescribed some kind of drink to have before a procedure that was a couple weeks out. 8 bottles of it. Pharmacy billed the insurance company over 2000 dollars for these 8 bottles. Mother in law got online found it for 58 dollars over the counter with no prescription. Out of hand. I agree also on just getting a handle on immigration and not rushing in and making mistakes on any of it. China is a whole different bear. I was just glad someone got Bin Laden, no matter who it was.
January 24, 20179 yr My union has over 250 people in it and 200 of them hated Obama and voted for Trump. I imagine most unions makeup is like that. Union officers and folks aspiring to be in the union hierarchy are usually the hardcore democrats. At the end of the day as it was noted earlier, unions want protection. I can't imagine why most unions wouldn't applaud his move IF it puts money in their pockets for the families and the union bank accounts. Money always talks.
