Figured this would be a close one - ol' pap's #11 over #10 by a point. Hoping for some stats.

Sorry we disappointed you and didn't live up to your expectations.

IF you were there you saw some pretty impressive individual efforts and a tale of two different quarters in the second half. Brossart built a 12 point lead at 48-36 after three quarters and the Breds came roaring back, feeding off of our turnovers to outscore us 24-13 in the fourth quarter to just miss. 3 of 10 shooting from the free-throw line nearly contributed to our demise. Not pretty, but exciting.

 

For Harrison County, I really like sophomore Tyler Harris. He played the majority of the JV game (which the Mustangs won 32-29) and then came back and played a whale of a game in the varsity event, leading the Breds with 16 points. Long, lean and athletic, with a summer spent in the weight room everybody in the region will know his name next year.

 

Not impressed by Zach Hamberg who led the Mustangs with 18 points including three 3s and stood in and took a pair of charges??? Don't know what more you can ask of him. How about sophomore Bryan Duffy??? 5'10" and 205 pounds - solid as a rock - imposed his will on the Breds and scored a career high 13 points tonight. Not impressed with Bryce Kremer, who came off of the bench and knocked down four 3's and scored 17 points??? How about Bryson Wieland and Bryce Donnelly who BOTH played with broken fingers - Wieland on his shooting hand and Donnelly on his left hand??? I'm giving these two an E for Effort.

 

Understand also that in some senior laden programs these two teams would be the JV teams. Both have two seniors and a plethora of sophomores who contribute. Both are building, learning, and gaining experience this year.

 

Again, sorry we didn't meet your expectations tonight. We'll try to do better the next time.

We are what we are this year, and there is not a soul in our camp who is disappointed with the efforts of this ballclub, or upset with our record.

 

Spend you money elsewhere this year and we will see you again next year and try to make a better impression.

Appreciate your review @Mustang. Brossart just battling through the cycle of rebuilding like all small schools. I thought it was an impressive win for the Mustangs over a very talented yet uncontrolled team. Mike Code as I said previously is the difference maker in this one, he never disappoints unless you're @fan1620 and can never be satisfied.

Impressive at the fact George Rogers Clark and Bishop Brossart defeated the Thoroughbreds by the same 1-point margin and are lengths away from each other in the rankings.

They are loaded with talent.

Battle of two teams that continue to confuse the Dawg, but also a pair of squads I'd never count out come tourney time.

I would agree. They appear to have ample talent. Coaching seems to be the issue. No way Harrison should be 3-15 with the ability they have.

I've seen both sides of the Breds in the one game I witnessed. Mason County had them down something like 37 to 8 - with Garrison on the floor for less than 2 minutes. They looked utterly lost.

 

Then they made a nice run against the Royals' reserves, with Free, Turley and Harris putting up nice numbers; getting to the basket, hitting threes (Free). They have some talent.
