Yes it happens all the time. If Rivals never heard of an athlete and they say they have certain offers, they will give them a star rating based off the information given to them. In the early 2000's they did a much better job actually evaluating players and giving them stars.

With that being said. He has earned the respect of many coaches and schools, and has played well in All Star games. I'm sure he's going to have a very good college career.

I wanna say that Alec is going to Lindsey Wilson, but not sure. The web isn't giving up any info on him.

Schirmann has offers from Franklin College, Georgetown, Lindsey Wilson, Mount St. Joseph, Pikeville, and Thomas More. He also has a PWO from Eastern Kentucky.

 

He did pretty well in the bowl from the video I've seen, too. 4 tackles and 3 QB hurries.

They have various combines around the country that the players register for and participate in. Players are selected from all of those who take part in the combines.

 

For what it's worth, Giante Hicks from Dixie Heights also was invited to play in the Jacksonville Blue-Grey bowl, but he decided against competing.

To add there are local and regional combines. Based on performance the decision makers with Blue-Gray extend invites to the National games. Games were held in Jacksonville Jaguar Stadium, as well as, Dallas Cowboy Stadium.

 

These invites do come with a price tag ( $5500 + ) and unfortunately schedule conflicts with Christmas break. Blue-Gray does encourage player sponsorship so contingent upon how well connected or how well off financially a player may be does influence a decision to play in the National venues.

 

Both Giante Hicks and Cameron Barrett of Dixie Heights were invited to play in the National All-American games: Giante in Jacksonville and Cameron in Dallas. Not sure how they decide upon placement. Both chose not to participate due to schedule conflicts with holiday plans with family, as well as, raising funds to finance the experience before Christmas! Hard time of the year to ask folks for $$$.
