Yet Belfry won last week and dropped in the poll. What does that say for the schedule?

I was pretty confused myself when I seen this, I don't comprehend a loss with a drop in a poll, I know Belfry played East Ridge last week, that is a have to game for the Pirates (district game), I think strenght of schedule in non-disrict play should be looked at, as well as your results of that schedule.

I suspect that Western's win over a 4A school, combined with their win at Breathitt, moved Western up a couple of notches.

Compared to the other bunk you see in the computer rankings and A.P. poll, I think the BGP rankings are usually the closest ones out there. I'm just wondering what the justification is for some of the movement -- something I can't get with the other three.

I have trouble seeing Middlesboro as a #5 team, but then again ... who is a legitimate #5 in this bunch?

 

 

Believe me, Middlesboro is loaded. They have a legitimate shot at getting to Louisville. Whether or not they can go on the road and win against a Russell, Sheldon Clark or Belfry..only time will tell....but they should not be overlooked.

These rankings mean nothing this early.

 

2A teams are only as strong as their weakest areas and every 2A team is weak in something , ranging from specific postions to depth ...

 

For 2A teams the season is about developing not as much reloading. That's what makes it so interesting. At season's end look for teams who have developed the most and have consistent execution in all aspects of the game.

 

Devils have strengths and weaknesses , established coaches will do the best they can with what they have .... no secrets in 2A football ... coaching is a strength for the Devils ... same at Belfry ....

Having seen Newport play against Ludlow and winning only 13-6 and only beating Dayton 13-0 I have a hard time believing the Wildcats are a Top 10 team unless Class 2A is just that bad..This team is a far cry from last years team.

Sure Central came in here and made us look silly but to be honest I don't think anyone on that list could do any better than we did against Central.

 

After looking at what Central has been doing over the last couple of weeks against traditionally good football teams like 5A Farragut (34-7) and 4A Knoxville Halls (35-0) our lose doesn't look so bad.

 

This team (M'boro) right now is firing on all cylinders and we are going to be a dangerous team and one tough out for ANYONE in the playoffs.

I see Trigg Co up there pretty high...I know they've been beating teams by alot, but, there early schedule hasn't been the greatest..Are they as good as advertised? What do they have coming back from last years team, which was pretty solid?

In their defense, Trigg County has played three 3A schools that, to be honest, aren't as good as they were when they were put on the schedule two years ago.

 

In 2004, when the current schedule was drawn up, Madisonville made it to the regional finals. Franklin-Simpson was the #2 team in their district and Hopkins Central was much more competitive than it is now. At the time, they looked like a formidable first three games.

Western is probably too high. I will be surprised if they win their district.

Not hard to fire on all cylinders vs. Lynn Camp, Pineville and Lee Co.

Middlesboro dropped Bell Co. (biggest rival who they couldn't beat) and plays Lynn Camp, Pineville, and Harlan (Class A) in Ky and Lee Co. (horrible every year in Va) in the nondistrict games in an effort to pad their record. And gets to play Cawood, Knott Co. Central, and Corbin...

 

Record will look much better than the team...long way to go to beat a decent 2A team in KY...won't happen this year IMO...
