January 2, 20179 yr Apparently the Saints are discussing trading Sean Payton, presumably to the Rams, but what exactly would you trade for a coach? Especially a Super Bowl winning coach.

January 2, 20179 yr I'd trade a hot dog & a beer at the stadium (appx. $20 value) for Marvin Lewis right now?
January 2, 20179 yr I'd trade a hot dog & a beer at the stadium (appx. $20 value) for Marvin Lewis right now? Marvin isn't worth that.
January 2, 20179 yr Author I know the Bengals would obviously never do this, but would this be enough or too much: AJ McCarron 2017 1st round 2018 3rd round Edit: after reading Doc's post this doesn't seem like nearly enough.

Throw in a water boy and two sets of pads and you might have something to work with.

January 2, 20179 yr Author That is WAYYYY too much. Too much? The Bucs gave up 2 firsts and 2 seconds for Gruden.
January 2, 20179 yr Author Throw in a water boy and two sets of pads and you might have something to work with. So you think it's not enough?
January 2, 20179 yr Too much? The Bucs gave up 2 firsts and 2 seconds for Gruden. Just because it happened once 15 years ago, doesn't mean anything now. 1st and 2nd round picks are like gold these days. Maybe if the HC is running the entire operation. The GM of the team is far more important. Tony Dungy built the D that won him the super bowl. After those players cycled out he was a sub .500 coach and 57-55 overall at TB. No thanks on trading 4 draft picks for a coach.
January 2, 20179 yr Author Just because it happened once 15 years ago, doesn't mean anything now. No buts it's the only data point we have to base this on. What is your opinion on what it would cost? McCarron and a 2nd? No McCarron? I think McCarron would be in the deal as they need a replacement for Brees in a year or two and probably will never be bad enough to get one of the top guys in the draft.
January 3, 20179 yr That is WAYYYY too much. Agree...unless the coach's last name rhymes with delichick....
January 3, 20179 yr I know the Bengals would obviously never do this, but would this be enough or too much: AJ McCarron 2017 1st round 2018 3rd round Edit: after reading Doc's post this doesn't seem like nearly enough. Way to much. Especially when you have to give up so much, to get a head coach who has had a hall of fame qb. Yet has struggled to make the playoffs, and I believe may have had only two years that they won playoff games under his watch. I wouldn't give up anything for him unless it's 4th round or lower pick.
January 3, 20179 yr Struggling to figure out why any team would want Payton as a coach. What have the saints done in recent history? 7-9 the last 3 or 4 years I believe. The only time his teams were good, was when he was paying them to injure other players.
