coachlee Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Wanted to see opinions on what teams anybody has seen that are getting a dominant advantage out of their post players. I have seen dozens of games and for me it has been Covington Cath with 7 footer Jake Walters who fits the traditional big man role. But I like even more the production that Ballard is getting out of Clivonte Patterson. Ballard lacks size and has the 6'3" Patterson playing the post even though he does not fit the mold of a center or post player. He seems to have embraced the role. Clivonte is scoring many of his points near the basket and his relentless rebounding is making him a double double machine. Who you got?
Qryche11 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Finfrock from Highlands is very hard to stop on the block once he gets the ball. He goes around 6'5 and is thick.
Bink23bball Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 6-8 Miles for Walton-Verona, he's only a sophomore and plays great defense. His offensive game has vastly improved from over the summer.
UK#1fanisback Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 6'9 Kelch has had several double doubles this season.
coachlee Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 I will add 6'6" Hogan Brownley from Louisville Male. He has some really nice spin moves near the basket. If Male makes any noise it will be in large part how often they can get the ball to Hogan. He is almost averaging a double double with 16 points and 9.8 rebounds. Very nice traditional post player for the Bulldogs.
AnonymousCoach Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 6'9 Kelch has had several double doubles this season. Very underrated player in my opinion.
AnonymousCoach Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 6-8 Miles for Walton-Verona, he's only a sophomore and plays great defense. His offensive game has vastly improved from over the summer. Really interested to see this kid play. Heard good things.
HoopJunkie Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 6'9 Kelch has had several double doubles this season. Kelch is great at getting position on a defender. Has a really nice touch around the basket. Rebounds really well. He's the best I've seen so far. Definitely not 6'9 though. I'd say 6'7 at best. But he is a "big".
KnightTime07 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Zan Payne from Lexington Catholic does a great job down low for the Knights.
SnottieDrippen Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 The Wiggins kid at Newport, though he doesn't get nearly enough playing time for my taste, is impossible to guard in the post.
Realreason Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I would add Cozart from Madison Central to the list. Defensively one of the best in the state down low, offensive, well lets just say a work in progress. Only goes about 6'5" 6" but has 7 foot wing span. Only a sophomore, so I expect his offensive game to catch up. Defiantly not at the top yet, but on the list I would say.
bigmanbball Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hope this is ok to put on here. Here is a link to Zach's midseason highlights. 6'9 Zach Kelch Midseason Highlights - Zach Kelch highlights - Hudl
coachlee Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 I was able to see Big Zach play in June with his SK team and knew he could be a centerpiece for them. I have not seen them play this season, but he is for sure a favorite of mine as he is a big man that doesn't mind banging around the basket.
AndOneDad Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Steve Cordle, Soph at Augusta. 6'6" and about 240. I don't have any stats but we never have anybody that big so I thought I should mention him.
