The Mercer County Girls team was set to go to a Nike Invitational tournament in Phoenix this week when without much reason their flight Sunday was cancelled. Frontier airlines gave them the runaround and now is not able to get them out to Phoenix until Tuesday at the earliest forcing them to forfeit their Monday game.

When you take a discount airline you take a chance.

That's horrible, I do like the "Grinch that stole Phoenix" line in the article. It would have been nice for them to make some noise out there!

Frontier is based in Denver and I heard Denver had a lot of flights cancelled this weekend.

Can't really fault Frontier, and it's not like they were trying to find a flight for a person or two, it's a little different when a group of people are involved, 15 seats don't just magically appear on planes. Bad situation, absolutely but you get what you pay for.

Mercer is bringing a group of 62. I'm sure it makes it even harder considering that's pretty much half the plane

Add in that discount airlines do not have agreements with other airlines when there are flight problems.

Frontier will not try to rebook anyone. I've heard of a couple missing a vacation because they cancelled a flight and there were none prior to the weekend. And as you said. You get what you pay for.

Regardless the situation...stinks for the kids. They are really good and you hate to see anything interrupt their season.

They had to forfeit tonight but someone from Delta stepped up and made sure they get to make the trip anyways.

Always fly Southwest with a group. They are great to work with!

I'll likely never fly anywhere that I don't fly Southwest or Delta.
