Williamstown 74 Highlands 48

Featured Replies

If this score is accurate and everyone played, then no progress has been made in the revitalization of the Highlands program in the last 3-4 seasons.

They are better this season than they have been for a few years so I will disagree. This is a major surprise though, however you gotta tip your hat to the Demons from Dub City.

All but one Demons in uniform scored at least a point, led by Chase Good's 20. Winzee Fox recorded 15 and a similar number of rebounds. Brennan Stanley added 14 and controlled the tempo from the opening tip.

Bryce Traylor led Highlands with 12 and Braden Posey scored nine. No other 'Birds scored more than five.

I'm surprised after seeing Finfrock's inside game. Does Williamstown have some size?

Just waiting to hear again this year about how great Highlands Middle School basketball teams are.

Fox goes about 6'5" with some mobility. He was Finfrock's primary defender tonight and caused all sorts of problems for him. Chris Parsons is around 6'3" or so and also did a terrific job keeping the big man in front of him.

When williamstown shoots the 3 well they can play wth most teams. Good win.

Didn't Williamstown play a 2-3 sagging zone?

I'm not sure what you mean by sagging but yes, it was a 2-3.

Fox is long enough that if Finfrock didn't get good position inside it would be tough to score. Fox needs to be pinned down under the basket when you catch the ball. Otherwise, you better have great footwork and good moves. Most bigs don't.

After beating the Cru by about 15 I'm not stunned they lost to Williamstown. Losing by 26 ? That's a step back. Permanent step back or just a misstep? We'll see. Kevin gets to coach em up a bit more to get back on the right track.

It will take a coach's design to allow a big to catch the ball with him pinned. Maybe a handful of kids can do it with their strength, and maybe one or two of those can do it in the three allotted seconds.

With this score, did Listerman bench his starters to prove a point, or were they out there the whole time? I know Brad Carr had no hesitation doing this at Scott. You would scratch your head at the outcome only to see his guys respond next game. While I wasn't there, Im just taking a stab of perhaps what happened.

I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed more.

Chalking this one up to a fluke?

Poor coaching?

Players quit?

What went on here?

No offense to Williamstown, but Highlands should never lose to them.

Why not?

Giving WHS space to get off a jumper is dangerous. None of them are afraid to pull the trigger from anywhere in any situation, sometimes to a fault.
