See what I can find out tomorrow but if I had to guess Burries, Harmon and McGuire led the way

Newport (4-0)–Burries 9 5 26, Miller 4 5 14, McGuire 5 0 13, Harmon 2 2 7, Harding 3 0 6. Totals: 23 12 66.

Boone County (1-2)–Bowman 2 5 10, Haynes 9 6 27, Nyman 5 0 12, Rogers 1 2 4, Robbins 2 0 4, Hicks 2 0 4. Totals: 21 13 61.

Halftime: Tied 28-28. 3-pointers: N 8 (Burries 3, McGuire 3, Miller, Harmon); BC 6 (Haynes 3, Nyman 2, Bowman).

MeKell Burries is definitely one of the better junior guards in the region that many people know nothing about. Same with Ethan Haynes of Boone. I expect both to have very good seasons.

Donnie Miller and Makhi McGuire both sophomores. Newport is pretty young. Tough win on the road.

Haynes and Burries run wild in this game. Nice matchup.

Newport definitely better than advertised. I knew the sizeable win over Brossart last week was no fluke.

Very interesting. I was talking to a ref who has seen a lot of teams early in the season. He was telling me Boone was a sleeper. Sounds like Newport may be one as well after their recent performances.

Has Burries always been at Newport? Or did he come from over the river?

Came in last year from New Albany, IN I believe

Good match up last night. Ethan Haynes (Boone) & Burress (Newport) put on a good show.

Young Newport guards added more experience in a tight game situation. Fell behind multiple times in this one,

hung their heads a little, but came out of each timeout with new energy.

PG Donnie Miller struggled for 3 quarters, but was a difference maker in the 4th.

Also should have mentioned Anthony Harmon made quite a few hustle plays to help the Wildcats.

Correct. Transferred to Newport last year as a sophomore from Indiana. He is related to Newport assistant and former X walk on, Andrew Mitchell. I want to say MeKell is his nephew?

Bingo

How good could Newport be if Hollis was still around?

Glad to see Ethan Haines have a great game. He has all of the physical tools to be a special player.
