NKY Schools with the most transfers out?

Featured Replies

Again, the purpose of the thread is being missed. The actual transfer/relocate is not in question. It is a "what if" they had played for schools they were intended to play for before the fact, could those teams have been any better? And who are some of the players that I missed?

Does Beechwood get to claim anyone who lives in Ft. Mitchell? All those kids who go to Covington Catholic, Holy Cross, St. Henry, et al?

What about those kids who went to public school till 8th grade then went to private school for high school?

No need to answer. It doesn't matter. I don't care where kids went to school before high school. They are allowed to go where ever they want for high school so no need to think about what might have been.

What about players that play highschool sports but are in 8th grade then transfer as freshman? Is that a tranfer? I believe von handorf (Cov Cath) and Jefferson ( New Cath ) both did that.

I do not believe that is considered a transfer.

Did he play varsity? If he only played freshman ball, he can go to any school he wants and be immediately eligible. Technically, he is not a transfer if he had not played any varsity sport at Conner.

Are you sure about this? I thought it was if the athlete had played high school sports, not just specifically varsity.

He did not play any varsity snaps at all only Freshman. Some High School coaches will play a freshman on special teams during playoff time making them ineligible to transfer easily. If the player is in one varsity play it "locks" him in to that school and makes the transfer more difficult.

Varsity action from 9th grade on. If you are in high school and play a varsity sport, then and only then if you go to another high school you are a transfer. You are immediately ineligible to play sports at your new school. You have to appeal to the KHSAA to have them declare you eligible at your new school. There is a process and there are exceptions in the rules you can use for your appeal.

Eighth graders who play varsity for a school are allowed to go to a different school as freshmen and be immediately eligible.

Cooper: Branden Hermes(Beechwood)

Braden Hermes lives in Rabbit Hash....was scheduled to attend Cooper. He attended Beechwood after the 8th grade. He did NOT transfer.

Never said he did "transfer "

Not all of these are transfers, but are guys who looked set to attend Ludlow but left before high school started.

Drew Moore went to Dixie

Seth, Luke and Noah Caple all went to Dixie

Brody Thorsten went to CovCath

Burt Pouncy went to Dixie freshman year, transfered back to Ludlow his sophomore year and then to Holy Cross.

All those players grew up in Ludlow, played at Ludlow and some of them won super bowls together in youth football down in Ludlow. For one reason or another they all went to different schools, which no grudge held because they all did what them and their families thought were best for them. But it sure would have been fun to see what they would have done at Ludlow, because all of them basically played Huge roles in state championship runs for Dixie and Holy Cross.

So while most were by definition not transfers, most of them still even lived in Ludlow when they went to different high schools. Which is what I think this thread was asking. Always fun to think about what could happen if certain players stayed, especially for small schools.
