Raceland 27 Greenup Co. 21

First I want to give a big thumbs up:thumb: to the Greenup County football team. You guys played a heck of a ball game. Hold your heads high as you should be proud of your effort. The Soph. QB is a dandy!!!

The Rams running game was great until they went away from what was working. The defense played great until they tired but made the plays at the end when they had to. Benji Mullins was fantastic on the punt return to seal the victory. It will take a much better effort next week or LCA will ruin the fire truck escort!!! Nice win to go 4-0. A new season begins on Monday!!!! Everyone is 0-0.

Yes, Benji Mullins brought one back late that put the Rams back out in front after they had lost the lead. The way I took it from the radio broadcast is that the Raceland defense and special teams carried the Rams along with a strong running game in the first half.

You are correct oldrambler. John Scott Carver & Bret Denton ran like workhorses in the first half but I don't think either had a carry after the 2nd quarter. They were unstopable up to that point. Defense was very physical but was on the field more than usual due to lack of offense and maybe tired some in the 3rd quarter. Special teams was again great with some nice returns and our young kicker Preston put the ball in the endzone. It wasn't pretty but we will take it.

Not to knock anyone's celebrations, they're entitled to do whatever they please, but let's say Raceland wins the Region this year in football, or even advances farther than that. How will they celebrate a huge victory like that? It would seem to me that the fire truck escort wouldn't mean that much since it seems to be the norm.

We will let TBF blow the sirens!!!! and make him Chief For A Day!!!

What is the chances of Raceland winning the district this season?

No fire truck escort if we win this friday, the game is at home. Maybe they will drive them around the trak if the Rams win. You are correct about the new season. Rams are on a roll with some nice wins but they mean nothing now unless we can continue the sucsess in the district. L.C.A. is a game that I believe will be a critical point in the Rams season. A win just might and imo would propell the Rams to a very special season. A loss will put us in the same boat we have been the last few years, 0-1 in the district. I was just listening on the radio but I noticed and was wondering why or how Raceland went away (somewhat) from the running game. Seemed to me that our line was blowing GCHS off the ball with regularity and we were just slamming it down there throats, then they seemed to get away from it. Did GCHS make adjustments? Anyway, good to get a win over a rival AAA school.  Now lets get ready for L.C.A. Rams.:thumb:

I thought this would be a close one. Raceland had the speed advantage but I thought Greenup Co's size might wear them down a little. Congratulations to the Rams on a good win. Greenup is improved over last season and I don't believe will be a pushover for anybody.

Thanks for the updates oldrambler, they sure make the game more enjoyable. Eric Craft of GC had a great second half...almost too great!

:thumb: Finally got a radio station to cover all their games and I enjoy it. I can't make to all of the games like I used to ( I did not miss one at one time..for a long time.)Thank you again 1080am.:thumb: I have heard from people and friends that really know football that the Craft kid will be a good one, seems to me that he already is.

My first action as Chief will be to park the trucks in the garage until we win something significant. A regional and/or state title. My second will be to pass an ordinance with non-veto power that the trucks roll out for sporting events only during championships.

I'm considering a law that allows the trucks to meet the team at the city limits on nights when we lose a big game. Because when we lose there doesnt seem to be as many fans lining up to congratulate the players and coaches for their effort and to tell them we support them win or lose. And that we appreciate their hard work, sweat and tears. Its easy to fill that truck up when you are 4-0 but where is everybody when you are 1-9? Thats when they need the escort and the support to raise their spirits.

Can I get some support for my platform???

They have a shot at winning the district just as everyone else. The records are the same 0-0 until after Friday. Monday begins a new season.

No support here TBF!! If you arrive at the field house after a loss you will see that there are a large group of supporters there to meet the team after a big loss. I have been there and witnessed it many times. There is always a large group meeting the players as they get off the bus with words of encouragement so you are wrong about the non support after a loss.

Do you really think that a win of any kind is not significant? A regional or state title would be great but any win is of great importance no matter who the opponent is whether it be district or non district.

I have been hearing the knock on the fire truck escort ever since the season started and I really don't understand why this is such a big deal!!! This has gone on for years and is done for the sake of the kids!! They have a great time with this and seem to look forward to it so what is the problem? If the kids enjoy it I really can't understand why some have such a problem with it. It is getting old hat. I am for it as long as the kids want it,plain and simple!!!! If you are trying to push buttons, congrats you are a winner.

:thumb: Always have and I always will as long as the good man upstairs allows. I have seen you their oldrambler as well as many others.

I'm not being sarcastic. I honestly got caught behind the fire trucks and buses trying to get to my exit off US 23!

Sorry you got behind that fire truck but it wasnt suppose to be called from my understanding. No coaches knew and the boys knew they didnt come to play like they should have. No celebration. You dont celebrate a game full of what could have been costly mistakes.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the trucks on the side of 23.......
