LOL. I guess it's convenient if you are apt to lose your keys often or don't want to turn your key to start the car. Outside of that, it's just something else to go wrong that you will (I promise you will) have to replace.

 

Funny story, my neighbor bought some sort of Mazda SUV last year, which has push button start. One day when he got home I noticed that he unloaded groceries and left the car running, I didn't think anything about it, just figured he planned on going back out. About four hours later I walk outside and the car was still running, so I called him and asked if everything was okay (he had a stroke a few months prior and I was concerned that he had had another medical issue) he said yeah everything's fine. I told him that his car has been running for hours and that's why I was calling, he said that he thought it turned itself off when he walks away since the key is in his pocket. I was legitimately concerned when I walked back outside and noticed that the car was still running, but got a laugh out of it after our phone conversation lol.

 

Had my sons kids for the weekend and used his car because they had the car seats. We took the grandkids to a movie, their car has the push button, and you can probably guess it. The car was still running. I went inside the theater watched the movie and it never turned off. I thought they automatically stopped when you got a certain distance away.

 

On a positive note, the car was nice and toasty when we got in it. Don't think I'll tell my son, he already thinks I am 3/4 of the way to dementia.

Try pumping the brakes. It could be a bad brake switch.

All the hate for push buttons vehicles. Love it, so convenient. My wife can leaves keys in her purse and never have to get them out and lose them.

Silly question and I'm sure you've tried it already, but the push button cars I've driven have a little cap on the push button that can be pulled off and you can put the key fob in a manual ignition switch.

Neighbors had an Altima with push button ignition. That thing was towed in at least 4 times during their 3 year lease due to the push button ignition not working.

My wife leases a 2014 Altima and we had similar issue. I googled it and I think it said to press down really hard on the break or pump it while starting. It was a connection from brake pedal to ignition. In curious what they say the issue was so keep us updated.

This is the second time that I've had this issue in the past year. The last time it was due to a bad brake switch, so that was one of the first things I checked. Brake lights worked fine. All my interior lights worked, as well as headlights, so doubtful it's the battery. My key fob unlocks and locks all the doors, so don't think it's that.

 

Was looking up stuff online and found a lot of people having something similar with Altima's that had something to do with the steering column? :idunno:

Can a car be considered totaled without being in an accident? Was looking up the steering column issue and sounds like it's over $1000+ to repair. It Blue Book's at around $3,400.

Same here. To make matters worse, wife has been hassling me to buy a truck for a couple years now...This is only going to make the needling that much worse. :lol2: :idunno:
