Not that I disagree with the premis of this thread or anything, but I enjoy bowl season a lot. I'll take Southern Georgia vs North Mississippi battling in Reno for their 7th win over ANY NFL game.

NO ....I believe the minimum should be 7 wins on a 12 game schedule.

I know I am in a great minority and maybe the only one on bgp that believes that , it's jmo. I don't believe in rewarding mediocrity. That's just me feeling that the "everyone gets a trophy" thought process is wrong in sports, politics and life in general. Exception .. the 5-6 yr. olds t-ball / flag football, those type kids stuff.

That I can agree with. That's another thing that has gotten way out of hand and imo going to ruin ncaa sports ....and will keep on and on

Why does it matter ? The only thing playing that game impacts is SOS when determing the Final Four. If the SEC doesn't play a tough enough schedule it will hurt them.

 

Why would anyone care if a 6 win team got a bowl bid. You don't have to watch.

It matters because it makes the conference appear better because the conference can beat its chest saying we got X number of teams in bowl games. "We're the best." It doesn't matter because you're never going to agree with me.

ACC, American, Big Sky, Big 12, Conf USA, MAC, Mountain West and others only play 8, yet you never seem to worry about those leagues :lol2:

Big 12 plays 9 conference game. I thought the ACC did too but I was wrong on that. They should play 9 too. It should be uniform because it's harder to judge teams that played 8 vs. 9 conference games. My hate isn't directed at the SEC, my hate is directed at the way the conference is perceived. The conference had a stretch from 06 to around 13 where they were undoubtably the best thing around, everyone else has caught up to them since and people deny this continuously.

I've never said others haven't caught up...osu is on a great run since Urban got over his "sickness" and after years/decades of being irrelevant UM is back near where they should be. Let's see those 2 and others perpetuate this success for a few more years. At this point OSU is up there with any program in the country year in and year out...can anyone join them consistently?

I think that argument is only used to fit the narrative of people that don't like Urban Meyer. To question someone's health issues is pretty low. Urban didn't run the tightest ship at Florida, but to say he used a made up health problem to escape from Florida is just ridiculous to me. If he didn't want to coach at Florida anymore and left for Ohio State it wouldn't have been a big deal. Jimbo Fisher almost left FSU for LSU this year and nobody would have questioned that. Urban took a year off from coaching to get his health concerns taken care of. I think denying that without any proof otherwise is ridiculous.

How many 6 win teams are left at home? Its all about the money. nobody attends them and nobody watches them.

Loved when ND turned one down a few years ago. Said it wasn't enough money and they would have lost money to attend.
