November 13, 20169 yr If there was ever a year to see 8 teams it would be this year. It needs to happen. Play the first round the week before Christmas, then presume with the normal 4 team system to take place on NYD.

This is exactly what I haven been saying I wanted for years on here when talking about college football. They took a step in the right direction having 4, now take it one more and make it 8. Guarntee the 5 conference champions make it. This way teams know for sure exactly what they have to do to make it, and so they can't really have an excuse if they don't get one of the 3 at larges because they should have won their conference championship to Guarntee it. Then you have 3 at large make it.

November 13, 20169 yr Author One of the thing I dislike about college football is the whole month of December off before the big bowl games. This drives me nuts. An 8 team playoff where you play the first round the week before Christmas eliminates this.

Using COMPUTER rankings, Top 8 teams qualify for the playoffs. We made a step forward going to the playoff, now go another step and remove the human element.

Power 5 champs automatically qualify, and the highest ranked three teams left after those five are pulled out. Even though we know it would happen, there would be little to debate every year if it were done that way, especially with computers.
