Beechwood has been there and done that

Tough to pick against

BW is one of the most fundamentally sound teams I have seen in years. They are NOT GREAT anywhere except at doing things right play after play after play. Will not beat themselves. Small, quick, and very intelligent on both sides of ball. A bigger, athletic team might present problems hard to overcome. Should be okay against KCD. This team might be Coach Rash and his staff's best jobs ever!

Well said OC!

No great dominating player but a LOT of very good high school players. A very athletic team at almost every position, including at the line of scrimmage.

One other thing I will add, the Beechwood defense this year has been outstanding. I have a hard time seeing KCD doing much against that defense and for that reason I think Beechwood wins by a solid, perhaps wide, margin in this game.

From looking at Stats it appears KCD has been more run oriented instead of pass heavy as from the past.. Can they run on the beechwood defense. I hear they have some big kids and use them quite often.

Beechwood should advance without much trouble.

As a fairly regular visitor to BGP I have learned so much about what might be termed the "passion pockets" for high school football.

While I would love to attend games in Mayfield, NKY(Cinci Suburbs), BG, Ashland Area, I feel so connected to what's going on in those areas because of all the insightful posts from those aforementioned "passion pockets."

Thanks to the posts it appears this is a blowout win for Beechwood on Friday. I watched them on tape and they just don't seem to make any mistakes, are quick and bring a lot of hats to the ball on defense. They look disciplined, classy and efficient.

Let me play devil's advocate, just for fun...because, as I've found from well informed posts, this game is no contest. My question, is , just for fun...of those who have watched tape or actually seen KCD play, what about them if anything is a threat to Beechwood? Anything?

I expect Beechwood to pull this one out and not get really tested until the Semi Finals! However, should they get through the Semi's they'll get tested by the East!!! Plenty!!

Beechwood wins big, 21+.

I watched some video on KCD back during the season!

I think they are a very solid 1A football team. They have surprisingly great size at the skill spots and four or five viable weapons that provides excellent balance. The QB throws a pretty ball and the backs run very smart and block well for each other.

Not a ton of speed is the only knock on their skill guys... they are not slow by any means.. just not blessed with lots of explosion and breakaway ability. The biggest weakness I see with KCD is they aren't exactly a very big team up front or the best team at paving the road for downhill running. They do a good job of pulling blockers outside, but are vulnerable if you can outquick them into the backfield or set the edge hard and collapse the pocket.

They will have some issues defending Beechwood. The Tigers do everything well and can bring that power game.

The other place I think Beechwod gives them trouble is they have better athletes than KCD has been accustomed to that should be able to get off blocks and get outside to force that running game inside.

With all this said, I don't think this is the running clock game people are expecting just by simple name recognition. This KCD team can play ball and Beechwood has not exactly been a dominant team in the Regional Finals over the recent history (specifically last year). With that carrot dangling of Russellville and very little fanfare on this KCD team I could see them sleeping on them a bit.

KCD needs to get out early and focus on taking a part of Beechwood's Offense away. I don't think KCD has the horses to shut down Beechwood's balance... and to play lukewarm on each side will be a death sentence. Either devote themselves to taking away the run and forcing Beechwood to beat you with the pass, or pinch hard and try to get a ton of pressure to disrupt the pass and in the process maybe force a turnover.

KCD has to find a way to manufacture 21 points to have a fighting chance.

I am thinking this will be a 42-21 type of game though. Just think Beechwood gets more stops and has too much balance

Beechwoods passing game is very solid. I'm going to have to watch a few more videos on KCD to see more. But they do have athletes and like ATL said lots of runs to the outside. That was my question can they run it between the tackles?

Red Cats fairly easily!

Its a shame that BW & MF are not still in the same class or we would be on the verge of that always fun week of talking it up

Good luck BW!

The fun is now that the fan bases can root for each other to show that those two power house programs, that had been duking it out for years in 1A, are now putting on a show in both small school classes. Go cardinals all the way! put another one on that scoreboard!
