It just seems to be Owensboro's offense is a bad matchup for them against BG. BG should be able to score quickly which is a big disadvantage for a team like Owensboro.

BG should roll in this one. Owensboro will give everything it has. It's playoff time and they don't give these things away, but I look for this to be a 42-7, 48-14 game.

This is gospel truth and applies to every game in the state this week.

Yes. 7 Central.

Some interesting facts about the BG vs Owensboro Series:

Bowling Green and Owensboro began playing each other in 1932.

This Friday's game will make the 77th time they have played.

Owensboro leads the series 38-36-2. They have played BG more times than anyone else.

BG has won 25 of the last 30.

Owensboro was 15-0-1 against BG from 1956 to 1971.

I respect the Red Devils; its the rivalry's that make high school football what it is.

Know my old friend PurpleHaze loved this rivalry too!

OHS had their chances the last 2 years - had them down most of the game in 2014 and lost late. Lost by 3 at BG last year in which OHS only gave up 10 to BG offense. Moved the ball well to start the playoff game last year at Rash but kept settling for FG attempts and eventually OHS started throwing it gave up like 21 defensive points (off multiple INT's). This OHS team is not near what the last 2 have been. I think OHS is better than the start of the season, but has no passing game to speak of.

BG 35 - 7

I'm thinking about making the trip to B.G for this one. I haven't been to a football game at EL Donaldson Stadium since the 80-81 season...

I don't expect this to be close. OHS is much improved but do not match up well with the Purples. They need to get pressure or their secondary will have a hard time with the BG recievers. Also if they can get their running game going and eat up some clock that will help. I just don't think they have enough.

BG 42-7

Apollo and @devils58, Great show! I enjoyed it!

So are you tweeting this game on your Twitter feed?

We do broadcasts on the same channel. We've reciently aquired some extra equipment that should make it possible for us to broadcast the Mayfield/Catholic game and the OHS/BG game. We're gonna test it tomorrow to be sure.

Thanks for listening. We had some great guests!!

Keyron Catlett was great on your show. Topper fans should be excited.

Well folks today is the day. It didn't seem like this day was ever going to get here. Looks like the weather is going to be great. Game time temps will be in the 60s.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain that could come late in the game, probably the fourth quarter, maybe. We will have to see. Looks like 90 percent for folks traveling back to Owensboro so be careful.

I do expect BG to win this one, I do not expect a big blow out, but probably a convincing win, a few touchdowns or something. Although to some a two or three touchdown victory apparently isn't very good.

I will also be keeping an eye on the Cov. Catholic/Fern Creek game on social media. And that game will be well underway before the start of the BG/Owensboro game.

Anyone else going tonight?

It has been a long week; hasn't it!

I do think Owensboro has improved since Week 4. However, that improvement (going from a spread offense to the veer) likely plays into the Purples hands IMO. BG played a very good veer squad in Greenwood and beat them 50 to 0. Granted BG was amped up for that game. Owensboro beats GW 28-17 last week. :idunno:

I know anything can happen as did happen in the second quarter last week (likely BG's worst quarter all season) against an excellent Christian County Club. But I just can't see how a 1-dimensional team beats this BG team. Graves County beat BG at home in this spot in 2014, but that was a different BG team.

LONG story, short - I am going to the Fern Creek v CovCath game tonight here in Louisville. It's a 40 minute round trip commute vs a 4 hour round trip commute. Plus I haven't seen either of these teams play and I am expecting this game to be much closer than the BG v O game. Call me crazy...

Oh that is great though. Glad you'll be there to lay eyes on the teams. Can't wait to see your thoughts on our opponent next week, assuming we win tonight of course. I don't blame you a bit. That has a chance to be a good game I think. I'll be looking for updates from that game tonight as well as I cheer on the Purples tonight.
