Not only is it an East-West State, but some of your strongest traditional powers are at the more extremes of each of those distances as well.

 

In terms of the true geographical center of our State there simply are not a ton of dominant teams surrounding that Taylor, Marion, Adair County region

Your more consistent programs to reach the Semi-Finals typically push away from the Center of the State.

 

Kentucky is weird in that the Central part of the State doesn't have many traditional powerhouse programs so in a re-seeding situation more times than not it would in fact longer distances like you are against.

I take it back..I am fine with it as long as Belfry is always the 1 Seed that people are travelling to.

Don't that figure. The semi finals should be played at neutral fields in the middle of the state in the first place.

Pikeville to Alexandria, Ky (Brossart) 195 miles. Ft. Mitchell to Mayfield, 321 miles. Pikeville to Mayfield, 404 miles. So you think it is fairer that Mayfield/Beechwood must annually drive 126 miles further each way than Pikeville/Brossart ever have to drive? A very interesting home cooking conclusion to say the least.

FWIW, if anyone is interested, I made some slight modifications and sent this proposal to the Football Advisory Committee. I will be curious to see if there is any response.

In Idaho they are thinking of not only using enrolment numbers to align schools into Classes, but also they are looking at economic wealth of each school system to align those Classes. What they were thinking or better yet what I got out of the article, was that it is a huge advantage that say (using NKy schools to make a point) Beechwood playing against Dayton, Ludlow, and Holmes. Beechwood I would say has a very low number of students who get free lunch, while Dayton, Ludlow and Holmes have a much larger portion of students who do receive free lunch. They are thinking of using enrollment numbers then reducing that number by a percentage who get free lunches to get an adjusted number of students to place that school in a class.
